Stopped at the Van Lieus bridge to watch schools of smallmouth bass and a large sucker swim around. Then this yuge crayfish came out from under a rock. Righty had to be at least 6" long - biggest I've ever seen. Looked like a small lobster from the bridge

I had a fly buzzing around the garage and landed on me. I slapped it dead then felt tingling where i slapped it. a bunch of mini things were crawling on me where i hit it. They didn't look like maggots they had feet but i wiped them off before i could get a better look.

This guy blocking the line almost got squished. I missed him by inches but he did not move. Stopped, walked around, took a bunch of photos, another rider rode by in the other direction, but he did not move. Not dead, I could see him breathing. I left him in the line.

Haven't seen this kind of frog before, so Googled to try and ID. At first I thought New Jersey Chorus Frog was a match, but not quite. More searching and I found the exact match. Wood Frog. Wide distribution across North America. Status: Least concern. Populations stable. I wouldn't have to feel especially bad if I had squished him.

On my way out the door I found this guy hanging around my guineas. PXL_20230715_204624311.MP.jpg

He didn't get defensive until my Chihuahua tried charging him, then the guineas wanted to charge him too. He wouldn't fly more than a few feet at a time and ran under the pine trees eventually. Not sure what's going on with him, but I left him some water in case he's just dehydrated.
