need for wayfinding signage?

i think we can use some stop signs and stop lights in there too. maybe some water fountains and a place where i can wash my golf balls. hahah nah im just kidding. i dont play golf.
But it would be nice to have a water foutain, just in case your camelback runs dry. lol

I like the water fountian idea! How about some street lights. This could save us all a lot of money on bike lights. And then, we could pave the trails...they are sort of bumpy with all the roots and what not.🙂

Tim.

good idea, haha jk. but seriously it wouldnt be a bad idea to name the trails. like rocky way or muddler ave or the red trail could be main street

I guess I am missing something.

I honestly, for the life of me, cant understand why people would have a problem with a VERY LIMITED number of TWO INCH square signs placed at certain cross roads? I dont think you'd need for than 5 to 10 signs. again, two INCHES by two INCHES.

I dont get it.

Stop the Madness

Real men don't read signs, we ride around in circles until we are lost and then we somehow find our destination. This goes back to the days of the Vikings, ah yes the good ol' days!

The charm of that place is the fact that you can get a bit confused, it makes the beer and Korean Mexican food taste all the better.

i think the new signs they put up are just enough. there was even a sign when there wasnt suppose to be a sign! ahhh

Im serious, wouldnt it sound better than just the red trail or blue trail? the yellow trail could be called mud mess or stream view rd

Let's not confuse this sport with Skiing/Boarding. We don't care what you call the trail. We just want to ride. 🙄

yes, if you have to ask, you don't get "IT"

that remark is uncool. my experience on the trails and on this message board has been nothing but positive. however, some of the posts on this thread go counter to that. that's unfortunate.

I get "it" that people dont want lots of signs ruining the aesthetics of the trails and that the "untamed" nature of 6MR is part of its particular charm. is that what you mean by "it" stb? I just dont think a few 2 inch signs placed throughout the hundreds/thousands of acres of 6MR will affect that one bit.

comments like stb's make him/her come across as a "bike snob" which is not a cool thing to be.

Not directed towards anyone, period. But posting on the board is like trying to talk to a girl you are having issues with through the pc. Things are always preceived differently and sound worse than they are. We are all good people. No worries. Just brush it off.

WE DON'T WANT THIS THREAD TO TURN INTO THE 6MILE MADNESS RIDE THREAD 😀

WOnderturtle....your name should imply that you have a thick shell....😀
Dont get upset. Forum is for everybody to express their opinion, and disagreement is a good thing IMO. DOnt take anything to personallly....the best threads are the ones that have some back and forth...it's how we all learn 😛
I respect your opinion, but I am also on the polar opposite side. I go to ride for exercise, and to get AWAY from signs, and traffic, and the stinking mall, to a place where I can be responsible for myself. I LIKE to get lost in new trails and then figure it out. To me it's a big part of what riding is all about. Its the spirit of exploration. Its the moment when you suddenly realize that you have almost crashed on a tree root before, and realize you are going in circles, followed hopefully shortly thereafter by the moment when you find the intersection where you turned wrong, and get it right. I lovew it when next time through that same intersection I know exactly where to go.

Its the darkness starting to close in and wondering if you'll get out of the trail, that makes you forget about how your legs feel and just pedal before the Yeti gets you. Yeah man it makes the tacos & beer taste better.

Riding isnt so safe, it isnt so clearly marked, watered down, regimented. Thats why 15 people who have never met can go out and have an awesome ride together without speaking. Everybody is free to find their own personal challenges, and relish in private personal achievements during the ride. For some, like me, who cant find my car in a parking lot, successful navigation is a big part of that.....I'd rather be lost than told where to go!🙄

well said sircrashalot, here is your daytime emmy

also, wonderturtle... i dont know if you are new to messageboards but it seems like to take offense on them very easily. look at other threads and youll see people busting each others balls all the time. you should just take it easy and go with the flow. bust their balls BACK and have yourself a laugh instead of getting all mad about it. we are all good fun people here and the animosity is just NOT needed.

oui, would it have made it better if I put 🙂😀😉😛 after it?
it wasn't a joke but it wasn't serious, somewhere in between.🙄

Tim.

Maybe put a canopy over the trails so they don't get wet in the rain. And a good HVAC system would kick ass for year round riding comfort.

Maybe a Halter's Express for those last minute purchases at the trailhead and a White Castle somewhere near South Middlebush for a mid-ride chain lube?

I didnt actually take offense to the other posts (eg., talking about paving the trails, stop lights, etc.). they were busting my balls and thats fine.

but telling someone they "yes, if you have to ask, you don't get IT" is not "busting"....it's just uncool. there's your unnecessary animosity.

meanguy - I TOTALLY agree that the animosity is NOT needed and totally goes counter to what I have experienced on the trails and this message board. that's why I called stb out. I dont think any of my posts (up til my response to stb's comment) even HINTED at animosity. why would they?

sircrashlot - I understand your point. I've ridden 6MR a half-dozen or so times now and have lost my way all but once (and I actually have a pretty good sense of direction!). I agree - getting lost and then finding finally your way is a thrill. just think a few signs placed here or there might help the hopelessly lost. but whatever. I'll be there wednesday afternoon getting lost again 🙂

Keep in mind, no one is talking 'signage' here. Its just trail markers. It's a pretty simple thing thats pretty prevalent everywhere else where biking is allowed.
My questions were answered many posts ago by Jdog and Wobbegong. Thanks.
Still up for a titty bar.
