WOnderturtle....your name should imply that you have a thick shell....😀
Dont get upset. Forum is for everybody to express their opinion, and disagreement is a good thing IMO. DOnt take anything to personallly....the best threads are the ones that have some back and forth...it's how we all learn 😛
I respect your opinion, but I am also on the polar opposite side. I go to ride for exercise, and to get AWAY from signs, and traffic, and the stinking mall, to a place where I can be responsible for myself. I LIKE to get lost in new trails and then figure it out. To me it's a big part of what riding is all about. Its the spirit of exploration. Its the moment when you suddenly realize that you have almost crashed on a tree root before, and realize you are going in circles, followed hopefully shortly thereafter by the moment when you find the intersection where you turned wrong, and get it right. I lovew it when next time through that same intersection I know exactly where to go.
Its the darkness starting to close in and wondering if you'll get out of the trail, that makes you forget about how your legs feel and just pedal before the Yeti gets you. Yeah man it makes the tacos & beer taste better.
Riding isnt so safe, it isnt so clearly marked, watered down, regimented. Thats why 15 people who have never met can go out and have an awesome ride together without speaking. Everybody is free to find their own personal challenges, and relish in private personal achievements during the ride. For some, like me, who cant find my car in a parking lot, successful navigation is a big part of that.....I'd rather be lost than told where to go!🙄
