The Indoor Cyclist's support thread

holy crap - that whole bs i went through with my HRM wasn't the HRM -
Finally decided to put that new one to work today - easy recovery spin.
Popped right up on the pairing screen - and boom, off i go.
of course no HR reading.

I do a 10 minute warm-up for a ride that is too hot for me to hold onto, spending about 3 minutes
in the group - decided nah.

Put in a 30 minute flat ride then started working on the sensor issue.

Phone sees it, and reads it in the wahoo app.
Zwift sees it but keeps dropping the signal.

So i do what any normal person would do, which i should have done.
Delete the apps off the phone and ATV and reload it.
Less than 15 minutes later i'm up and running.

Day 1 with the Zwift Hub I rode through the Zwift introduction and then did some easy pedaling for 45 minutes. Day two I did a warm up and a ramp test. I was going to warm down, but noticed that I lost all connections. Actually, I lost all power to the Hub! The LED indicator light would not turn on and no ability to connect via Bluetooth or via the companion app on my phone. Followed all of their troubleshooting to no avail. Waiting for a response from customer service, but this is not the way I wanted to start.

Yes, I updated the firmware. Yes, everything was properly paired. It felt pretty hot after the ramp test (which is remarkable considering how low my numbers are), so I also let it cool down overnight and try again. No dice.

Looks like I may have to bring my gravel bike in, slap a slick tire in the rear and throw it on a trainer since I can't see to fine a time/place to ride the trails. Gotta burn off some fat I've amassed over the holidays.

This thread is just tech support for all these smart trainers. Just put on TDF footage and ride yer bike on a dumdum trainer. I wouldn't be able to get into a workout if i thought it would crap out any moment.

If you wanna race put a number on, if you want motivation compete on strava.
Message received. I'll see myself out.

Not necessarily related to this thread but it is for me. I need to get a new wireless router. One that can connect from 2 miles away if possible. What’s the best thing one can buy these days?

Is it related because your zwift setup has bad signal?

mifi?
use your phone as a hotspot.
wait, what are we doing?
am i solving a philosophical problem again?

So I’ve given FulGaz a fair shot… it’s a keeper. Zwift had been the best of a boring activity (for me), FulGaz is definitely better for curmudgeon slugs like myself. The only issue is do I keep Zwift. We’ll give it the winter and reassess.

No. My fire stick that I use to watch TV.
Can you get an Ethernet cable anywhere near the vicinity, even if it's a few rooms closer?

If so, add an access point, or better yet get a router and access points that supports mesh.

After looking into it, the TP-Link solutions aren't crazy priced and have actual interfaces and don't need to rely on communicating too the company.

Got the Tacx Flow setup on my Rujo, just using the default Tacx software for now. Feels good being able to grab an hour of riding after work (I finish my shift at 9).

Starting a training plan, and as it's been years since I've done a FTP test, I tried to do Zwift's Ramp Test this morning..... It's a 5 minute warmup, followed by 60 seconds at 100w, 120w, 140w, 180w, etc until fatigue. I'd have thought ERG mode would kick in and maintain constant power. It did not. Couldn't find an ERG toggle in setting anywhere.
AppleTV Zwift app, iPhone companion app, older KickR.
Yesterday's workout erg mode worked fine, and automagically kicked in for each interval.

I did hear on the Zwift blogs the latest update caused some issues with ERG settings etc.. not sure if thats been fixed yet.
