Wouldn't it make more sense to use a front hub motor to drive the front wheel instead of routing a driveshaft through the bike?
I know it would increase unsprung weight but on this type of bike I don't think it would matter too much.
Maybe... I just like the mechanical nature of the AWD system. It appeals to the 40-year younger me that was really into 4x4 trucks.

This is sort of like a DH bike - Does it make any sense for me to own one? Nope. But that doesn't mean I don't want one.

It makes perfect sense for you to own a DH bike!

Been thinking about it: A common theme over the last 3-4 years has been that I plan to do something (exercise) and when it comes time to do it, I have zero motivation. I feel very groggy and my body feels like I've done a marathon day after day. I have pushed past this, but that first 30min-hour on the bike is brutal. Things get better, but still doesn't change the after-ride crash. What an ebike allows me to do is very quickly gain the motivation to do the ride and not be super picky about where to go or how long to ride. And while my tush is uncomfortable after a ride, I can do other things instead of having to sit or lay down due to exhaustion.

I just need more travel because I do not care about loss of climbing efficiency anymore. Or ever actually.

Chase faster ebikers, then your back to square one. Sounds like you should do a complete overhaul to what you put in your body to fuel your engine daily. Dive deeper into how this country's food supply is to make you sick. This is not tin foil hat conspiracy theories, this is proven scientific study after study. Idk you and I'm not labeling you but you are what you eat. You could possibly be working 80 hrs a week slaming junk food and sleeping terribly or you just consume a ton of sugar. In all my life I've never seen as many people suffering from severe debilitating diseases. Sorry for the real talk, and yes the beauty of emtbs is longer further with grinning soreness of fun.

I agree with Matty with regard to the quality of the food we eat. You would think that grocery stores sell quality shit….well they are selling shit.
When I was first diagnosed, my wife was doing research on how she could aid in my recovery holistically. After some research she got a bunch of garbage bags and emptied our entire pantry, her spice rack, and all the non- organic stuff in the fridge and freezer. Now all we eat is organic fruits and veggies, no sugar, and meat from either Butcher Box or US Wellness meats. All the growth hormones and antibiotics that our wonderful government allows helps grow the health care industry. It’s truly disturbing.

Stop riding aimlessly or for "fun" set goals and have fun achieving them. End the ride satisfied. Take it easy then hammer like an on/off switch. Build your short game then recover on your ebike. Do you have goals?

Highly processed and fast foods are a problem - fresh foods sold in stores is not. Worries about hormones and antibiotics is nonsense - hormones aren't even allowed in chicken and it's not a health issue in beef:

A healthy diet is the Mediterranean - vegetables, fruits, whole grains, healthy fats and seafood. Low consumption of red meat. One of the worst things you can do to beef is smoke it - even grilling is not good and should be eaten very infrequently. Taking organic, hormone-free (which is not even true - plenty of natural hormones in all meats) beef and smoking it is basically coating it in carcinogens:

@rick81721 your preaching to a wall
This was my point. But your assessment of food in a major store is garbage. Quality of quantity is loaded with problems. Take for instance the renaming of GMOs to bio engineered, because people were getting hip on staying away GMOs. Or the play of wording on products like lying on carbs by subtraction of dietary fiber. There are lists of ingredients in US foods that all other countries ban.

I agree that what's consumed should be a whole food. I can tell you as a sugar addict if I consume just one gram it affects me in multiple ways, mostly joint ache but also skin rash and brain fog. My point is you are what you eat. I'm in no way an expert, scientist but going by lots of research and how I feel at any giving moment.

Go to a dr and get a physical/ blood work. See what’s going on. Hopefully you find out everything is AOK and you just need to start working on things.
Then just try to do a little tiny bit better every day. This is a proven way of developing good habits. Don’t overwhelm yourself with immediate massive goals or lifestyle changes. That’ll never happen.

Or just have kids and realize you want to be the best possible version of yourself so they’ll have a good role model.

IDK, I’m pretty fit, eat mostly clean, and it takes me a day of riding to feel like riding 😂
