Sleep?!?! How do you do it?

This is true for some but I quit for 2 months at one point and sleep didn’t improve. I’m trying to stop a racing brain.
As someone who also has trouble sleeping through the night, my 2bits:
  • Like others say, cut the caffeine out after noon, drink your coffee and tea in the morning (no iced tea in the afternoon)
  • Cut back on sweets and desserts. If you have a sweet tooth, eat during the day, but not past lunch.
  • Try not to eat after dinner, especially sweets. Try to not eat anything after around 6-7pm. We are diurnal, so no insulin spikes at night.
  • Disagree on the alcohol. One glass of a distilled spirit like bourbon, vodka, etc. a couple of hours before sleep works pretty well for me. No beer or wine or anything with sugar in it though.
  • Melatonin is your friend. In addition to helping induce sleep, it also has anti inflammatory effects, including in the gut.

Nope:

"The DoD cut-off for THC is 15 ng/mL. That number is an administrative number created by the DoD. Tests come back for 14 ng/mL still indicate marijauna use, but the DoD has chosen not to report them out as positive samples."

the people who administer the employees and testing are passing around incorrect information . . . right . . . . . . 🙄

more likely @rick81721 is talking out his ass about something he knows nothing about again.

I find giving absolutely zero fucks about whatever happened yesterday, today, or tomorrow will allow you to sleep like a log.

Also, why is sleep like a baby a thing? Have you been around babies? They sleep in 45 minute shifts while shitting themselves the entire time, why is that a goal?

They also shit themselves every few hours.

I prefer logs.

The problem with using weed for sleep is that using it daily will leave you in a fog every morning, a purely anecdotal observation of course. I have a job where I need to actually think, so this isn't a practical solution for me. Now if I were independently wealthy, retired, or living a life of leisure and could sleep in every day, it would be a different story.

Sorry to keep the derailment going.

As someone who has recently thrown my hat into the job search pool, it's about 50/50 of the jobs that clearly state passing a drug test is required for the job. Locations in both PA and NJ, and those requiring it, have connections with federal government.

That being said, my current employer requires a drug test if offered a job, but nothing about random testing to remain employed.

lawyers and enlisted policy.

for those in high liability environments with clearances they wouldn't even mention, the policy can be/is zero.

You guys don't understand analytical testing. The DoD guidelines for all drugs are well publicized. All drugs have a level that = a positive response. For marijuana, it's 50 ng/ml unitial test, 15 ng/ml repeat is confirmation of fail.

This has piqued my interest - I ordered some home use tests to see what my urine level is.

I don't think anyone mentioned Theta Waves and binaural beats. Plenty of options all over Spotify. It puts the brain into a diff zone and helps with calming and sleep. I use Meditation Mindset podcast on a 20 min sleep timer and it works great. There is apparently also something called Boring Books on Spotify - people reading stupid boring stuff that puts people to sleep. Personally, I can't have anything with words.

I'm glad I have a couple hours now to think about this before I get ready for bed tonight.

I'm sure you're technically correct that the standard isn't truly "0", as that doesn't really exist in an analytical testing sense, but the larger picture is that any use/exposure puts a person at risk of failing. As indicated in that link, even the use of widely available CBD products has resulted in failures, which can be career ending as well as the cause for pretty dire penalties. There are also positions where extensive investigations are conducted beyond just the standard panel, including multiple interviews, contacting friends/family/neighbors etc, potentially a polygraph, all of which cover substance use. So yeah, the testing protocol doesn't have "0" as the actual standard, but the DoD policy is effectively 0.

Also technically true but let's be realistic - they aren't investigating THC results. And now the Air Force has relaxed their criteria - an initial positive test barred new applicants, now they get a chance to retest weeks later. And there will be a shift to saliva vs urine testing.

I think you are now missing the point. if you were trying to get a clearance, and the direct question is put to your references/family/neighbors "do you know if Rick uses or has used recreational drugs, legal or illegal?" you are not going to get the clearance needed to get the job, and therefor will lose the job to make way for someone that can.
hell, being a couple months behind on your mortgage will exclude you from getting a clearance.

a little closer to home - did you get the CC permit?

this is exhausting.

Realistically, they absolutely are investigating THC results and using results to fire people. If you're talking about use prior to DoD employment, if the person is honest about that, those results are not necessarily disqualifying, but using while employed is definitely not something that gets a pass in any way.
