Biscotti Madness

No worries, this will not be an issue. As I suspected this never shipped. It was clear that he was playing an email shell game to buy time. He obviously oversold and doesn't have it in stock. So I got a refund today. The second fedex ## was a farce from the door. He just made it up I'm sure.

Bizarre as he's still listing them for sale

Here's another guy with 100% rating from new zealand that is selling the complete cadence/hrm bundle and zero shipping for $395, which is actually a better deal http://cgi.ebay.com/BRAND-NEW-GARMI...66:2|39:1|72:1199|240:1318|301:1|293:1|294:50

The question now is, should I go with the flow and skip it entirely? How the hell can it get here 2-4 days? I find that hard to believe. I'll think about it though. If the strap on the Polar were better I'd likely stick with what I have. But the combined unit really is nice.

I think even with Garmin's software and platform ambiguities, the 705 is right for you. It's mindfvking-licious. But it is an investment.

f the guy has 100% perfect ratings, probably the delivery works as promised

2-4 days from NZ is TIGHT... hard to beleive it will happen with free shipping

At this point I can't complain about Garmin at all. I sent it back once, and they sent me back the wrong thing, but eventually replaced it with the right thing. I've been logging colossal hours in the shittiest of conditions and it took the Stewart mud bath for it to require a 2 minute switch cleaning. It's really worked well.

Aside from cadence and maps, I have the information the 705 gives me, albeit not in 1 nifty package. I'll more than likely reorder it before lunch time. I'm a consumer at heart.

That reminds me, I should update that iPhone thread...

It takes DHL 3 days to NZL from US, its likely same in reverse. It's only like a 21 hour flight.

Fine.

In the interest of this discussion only, I have decided to pull the trigger to see if it can make it here in the said 2-4 days.

Start: 11:06 EST, Thursday June25th.

Delivery Window: 11:06 EST Monday June 29th - 11:06 EST Wednesday July 1st.

The team kits sure get here pretty fast. So no doubt it can make it in time. Hopefully this guy isn't related to the other guy I just dealt with 🙄

Thursday's standard tempo ride:

As is often the case, I have my best rides not on race day. I really need to figure out how that all works. I'm not very good at it. This was probably my fastest ride ever. The aim was just 3 hours of tempo riding.

Happy birthday Fred!

Gears?

While I'm not so naive as to think that Ben and Chris don't know what they're talking about, my geared bike is not on the radar right now. I had Ilya take it home on Sunday because of my car situation, and it's at the shop now. Jay is off on some trip so I'm not sure what the deal is with that. I could just go get it but if it needs some serious work I don't want to get too involved. So right now, it's a moot point. Or moo.

Water Weight

I lost 6 pounds on this ride. Temps are creeping up and today was humid as anything. Soon it will be really warm and we'll be wishing for rain on the warmest days.

GPS

Cancelled the old one, ordered another one. We'll see how this adventure goes...

Don't they have vending machines for beer on every corner too?

Never saw a beer vending machine. Though you may be able to get it in the 7-11s, which is where I got the tea. There are 7-11s on every block. There was one spot near my brother-in-law's place where you could see 3 7-11s depending which way you looked.

When I was in Japan a few years ago, I was amazed that you could buy just about anything in a vending machine. In addition to the usual drinks and cigarettes, you could get hot Ramen noodles, fried foods, umbrellas, and porn from a vending machine. And of course, beer.

Even guys like Mike Montalbano, or Foco, as much as they kill it on the SS, are gonna be faster with gears.

Mike was talking about building a geared bike at Stewart so he can be more competitive against the "big-dog" pros:hmmm:

While I really like "Mindfucking", it has been getting kinda overused. 😉

I have a term term for you norm; "Paralysis by Analysis" 😀

By definition, Paralysis by Analysis is the collection and analysis of exercise data without understanding how to apply it to make future gains.

Analyze it all you want. If you can't convert it to future improvement, it is a wasted effort.

It has. I'm also playing along. This is, after all, entertainment. Like I said, my geared bike isn't on right now. I talked to Jay today and we'll assess Monday. I'm pretty sure it won't come out without some attention required. I just hope it's nothing too expensive. When I get it back I'm sure I'll be out doing laps at LM with it. 😉

It's a wasted effort, because I'm not upgrading and racing cat1 with a singlespeed bike. This is a lark for 1 race. I'll be running gears again at KVSP. I don't have a full set of power data to backup anything I say anyway. I'm also training for the DH40 right now. So my mind is really elsewhere these days, for the most part.

But 1 thing you may be right with. I'm a fucktard with shifting. This may be true, and I surely have a tendency to push big gears. On the hill ride out of my house you said something to the effect of downshifting because your knees hurt just watching me.

Today I made a conscious effort to drop from the big ring to the middle ring (yes I live in 1982 with my triple cranks) and I posted the fastest time on this loop by .9 mph. That would certainly suggest that my habit of pushing too big of a gear does not make me faster.

Now I just need to apply that to the mountain bike and this charade can end. Will it happen before July 5th though...?
