wow that guy was an animal!

yup that was me in the blue Jimenez kit. Great race, brother. You looked smooth out there.

pomole - if youre the rider I'm thinking of ("Jimenez" on your shorts something like that), I dont think the rider that blew by you was in the 30-39 class, I think that was the winner of the 40-49 group. I was with you and the 2nd place guy (red shirt) the whole race (I was the single-speed guy...finished fourth, 20 seconds or so back). I almost caught the red shirt guy at one point before my legs gave out....and then you passed me 🙁 but I dont think I ever saw the guy that won our group I think he was always a few minutes ahead. I could be wrong.

I like how Jim looks inconvienienced by the jump. "I could have been pedeling if my tires were on the ground"

I got the same impression.. He is kind of BMX'ing it and trying to stay on the ground...

I knew i wasn't winning so I just let it fly...

I have hit that little jump probably 5000 times, yesterday I was so focused on the race, I barely remembered it was there. Once I knew I had the lead I was too worried about doing anything dumb to mess it up.

My sad attempt.

I like how Jim looks like he's doing a nose-wheelie into the jump. Looks very non-chalant about the upcoming wreckage that accompanies such a move.

Coog, your first set pictures are amazing! the compositions are straight up stunning! not too crazy about the blurred backgrounds of the later set.

I nollied that jump😀

I'm not sure what happened, I was so focused on catching Alistair, that whole last section was a blur:hmmm:

-Jim.

Lewis Morris pics...

Great job Luke on the pics! I saw some other photographers out there around the venue in other areas. Any idea where those pics will be posted as well?

Thanks.

Another Blast!

Great Race and Fun Time.
MY opinion is that EVERYONE who participated is a winner.
Kudos to Marty's for running a class act.
This was only my second race but I prepped really hard and it payed off; 2nd place- Cat3 40-49.(1st race at Wayway-10th place). I have no idea who took first place- no showed at the podium. He was like a ghost and made his move very early on. I think he may have been the first one to come in from cat 3 even before the two younger age groups.
I think I was the guy in the red and white jersey that grunted past Chainsaw and others.
The best part was at the "home stretch" I thought I was battling for first and went full bore to come in a handlebar behind this guy who was actually winning a younger age group. It was definitely the most intensely competetive I have ever ridden as I think it was for him judging by the puking he did afterward. He was such a good sport that after we shook hands he said it was well worth it.
What a classic example this day was of what racing is all about for me.
Special thanks to my riding companions for rooting me on and to my future wife who got up at 5AM to come along.

Nice work John. great payoff for all of your hard work lately.

Oh and BTW, im starting to get a complex!

So im on lap 3 doing one of the early climbs and I pass a guy on the side of the trail.....he yells "COME ON CLYDESDALE! YOUR ALMOST AT THE TOP!" I was like ya ya ya, I know im fat! Then at the end my buddy from martys who took second was telling me "you know how much faster you could be if you lost some weight" hahahaha. I get it! Fat guy on a little podium! I mean they do have a point, my race jersey is a XXXL, hahahaha. But im also the lightest I have ever been since about age 12.

I raced. 5th place Cat.1 SS Open. Didn't have a great, or a horrible day. It was...blah. I was happy to see the beer tent although I did not sample the goods. It just helps to attract more spectators and a better atmosphere in general. I apprecited the cheers as I went by on my second lap. I slapped hands with a couple team mates who raced earlier. Next thing I know, there are 50 people screaming for me. I specifically remember Fred (AoN) banging on an empty water jug over his head. :hysterica

I can't see Luke's pics at work so I'll come back later and add something. I was #602 likely with my tongue hangin out.

here you go ben. you should yell at your boss for not being bike friendly and letting you see your pictures.
