Night Ride This WEDNESDAY

Hello,

I want to schedule a night ride for this wed 1/20/10 evening in the area near Watchung Reservation. I have never ridden with any of you guys here and am excited to ride with a cool group at one of my favorite times to ride.

Before you respond, please read carefully,

1) The ride is not at Watchung, i am just using this as a reference point so you know if it's viable for you to join. It is within 10 miles of watchung maybe less

2) The ride will be in a place which allows night riding of course

3) The start time will be 7pm.

4) I am using this board since trying the PM method was too impractical.

5) Where we are going i've never ridden before, sooooo, yea - it's a known trail, i just don't know it so will be following GPS if no one else knows it

ummmmmm... well I've been able to gather the following info...

1. you don't know anyone
2. you won't say where you want this 'night' ride to take place
3. you've never ridden where it is you're not saying
4. oh, and you have lights

what part of this is enticing?
 
Open your mind. The course is within a short driving distance of Watchung, i just don't want to make it obvious where we are going so the Cop's don't find us. And it aint that hard to figure the course out dude! so, Don't be a hater and join in?

😕 Why worry about the cops if it is allowed?? The fastest way to turn a night ride location into a hot zone for the police is to talk about it on a public forum.

Yes - you turn it into a hot spot for cops IF you talk about it on a public forum. According to the thread the cops would end up at Watchung - but guess what, no one will be there - no, infact we will be miles away!!

All you braniacs missed the boat! Looks like i need to SPELL IT OUT

The idea was simple -

1) One scan's through the current threads
2) One sees an invite for a night ride in an area one can reasonably get to
3) One reads my post and sends me a PRIVATE message
4) I send one the deets
5) Group meets up - has a good time
6) No one is the wiser!

Sheesh! Has anyone tried the PM method of trying to organize a group ride? not very practical soooooooo....thanks!

Dang, you threw this brainiac off with the implication that it was a legal ride. Back to the trailer for me. 😱

I think you got too funny with your post next time keep it simple...example "Have Lights" wed. night ride 7pm PM for details...maybe throw north jersey in--- just saying...😀
 
heres some questions

do i need to bring my own lights, or can i borrow some of yours? really dont feel like charging them are we meeting at 7, or do we start riding at 7? are we meeting in watchung or at this riding place? whats the wheels down time? do you have gps coordinates of the parking lot? i dont use google maps or pm's. can i bring a friend or is this invite only? is this a beginner friendly ride? how long is the ride? if you never rode it, how far does it go? how long will the ride take? im usually good for 10mph average. what is the code word for this ride?

Here's the part I don't understand and you should clear up. If the ride is somewhere that's legal why do we have to worry about the cops at all? If it's legal the cops won't care. Are we doing *something* that's illegal or not? You can't have it both ways. I'm not trying to bust your chops it's just that this doesn't make sense to me.

Im sorry I think I missed you tonight. I was at the lot at 6😉 (that's really what you meant, right) on Tuesday (that's the day you meant, right?). Well no one showed up and I rode alone and got lost with no GPS because I thought you would have yours, and then I got pinched by the Fuzz because they must read this board and they broke the code and now they took my bike from me and i'm in the slammer writing this!!! and there are people here who keep looking at me funny and my tights hurt my butt .

P.S.: The trails were muddy and dark. (I didn't think you really meant to bring lights) See you in 90 days🙁 , yours, Wonton Soup
 
The secret code for the legal night ride threw me off. I didnt want to get snagged by the cops, so I just rode the trainer. It was fun tonight because I did a new route, I had the gps tracks so I followed them. I didnt see any cops either.... :hmmm:
 
Am I the only one that read the first post and immediately thought Friday the 13Th.
or this "ride" was going to end up in a dark cabin and people getting skinned?
or is it just the voices again 🙂
