Commuting

Well, they finally put up the residents only signs up on Hudson terrace next to the park. I was not sure where to park. So I parked down the road about a mile, across from some bar.I think it's still Hudson terrace, not sure what town it is down there.I did not see any parking signs.I hope I'm OK there.Wow that was a rough hill first thing in the morning.Anyone have any other parking area's near by? Not sure I want to tackle that hill every morning.

From my understanding all streets in ft lee are ok to park on. Bummer about HT but i haven't been parking there in a while. What time you roll in am and where you traveling to?

Most of Fort Lee is resident only parking. They have those really lengthy green signs up everywhere. Kidzach, I think you parked to the South of GWB, near the entrance to Henry Hudson Drive. There are some spots there by the bus stop, but as you mentioned it's a climb back up to GWB. It is still Fort Lee there, but they don't have signs up.

Most of Englewood Cliffs streets has free parking for up to 48 hours, but you will likely have to park in front of someone's house.

Corner of Sylvan and Irving, Englewood Cliffs, NJ. There is an empty lot in the corner so you're not in front of someone's house. Matty, you may want to look into this as well if you don't want to do the climb up from my house. I will check the signs there to see what's going on.

There is also a little park on the corner of Irving and W. Bayview:

Pfff that gully you live in is nothing, i couldn't be happier starting out from there. Besides your next door neighbor is warming up to me now as he says hello back now.

Really?! That's better than I've got in 10 years.

If the sinks are near the shower, turn on the shower and turn on the hot water on all the sinks. Will cut down on the time it takes for the hot water to reach the shower.

Otherwise, turn on all the showers to hot if there are multiple showers.

What, never stayed in a Hostel? 🙂

Rdoonz please keep us posted on your new adventures, even a pic once in a while. City commuting isn't as bad as you would think, many bike paths and a city laid out in grid. Hardest part is staying focused which is a must, I won't get into my many illegal antics but city dwellers and drivers kinda get it 🙄

Thanks for the tips and support guys, much appreciated. I've made it in 3/4 days so far this week and it's been awesome. I'll post some pics pretty soon. In the meantime I would like to share this..........

Half the fun of riding the bike to work is when my co-workers walk in the door dressed like they are going on a National Geographic expedition to Antarctica and having them see my bike parked in the office. Then they look at me, look at the bike, look back at me in disbelief and proceed to comment.

My favorite quotes of the day relating to my bike ride:
1) "You actually rode your bike to work today?!?!?!? You're nuts!!!"
2) "What the hell is wrong with you?"
3) "Dude, you're an animal"
and my favorite
4) "I will never doubt your resolve to do ANYTHING!"

I just hope I can pull it off tomorrow morning.......it's supposed to be a cold one

Hey Matty, I usualy roll around 6-6:15.My destination is 133rd and Convent. As Sounds said just about every st I checked out in Ft. Lee has those resident signs everywhere. It seems where I parked south of the bridge was ok to park.It was across from Rusty Kales bar where I may have to check out one day.It seems it is Edgewater down there, as far as the electric/telephone poles are concerned.I'll most likely tough it out in the mornings on my full squish back up mtn bike for now. Those meters near the bridge are not enough hours to park and the meters on the way down from Rt 95 to Hudson Terr. are full by 6am.Thanks for your input gents.

That was the most awesome or worst commute in to date. It was awesome for me cause i had to really stay on my toes. Surprising the bridge was open. Check my resources and even drove by the gate to completely make sure it was open. After riding across much of the bridge and being blown all over the place, i stopped to take a pic.
