Moon Shadows are Evil

Yes, and strangely I was compelled to turn my lights off today also. I almost never do that. But in between my sets I turned off the lights for quite a stretch today and just rode in the dark. Very awesome morning.

4:45 is impressive. Going to need to beat you on that one, one of these days.

For whatever reason, I was awake at 3:00 and tried to fight it until 4 and then I got up. Wasted 45 min doing who knows what and could have easily made 4:30. This is unusual for me as I have been hurting to make 5:30 as of late.

Agree with Norm, 5 is minimum. Although my 5 would be different, sorta. Bikes without seats and bikes hooked up to child trailers seem to not count at all towards that 5. Another tip. I did this last year, move all your parts from the road bike to a cross frame for the CX season and winter, swap back in spring. It's like cheating.

-Jim.

I have heard that about different frames and moving the parts, maybe if I get an awesome cross bike but I just can't stand riding the CX9 around all winter. I was just thinking about a trials bike too, but that will have to be squashed for the near to distant future.

Agree - also, bikes used only in another country do not count. Bikes you are trying to flip on eBay do not count. In fact, they're negative split-bikes to the wife, because you can say things like, "Utah says we can get $1600 on eBay for this. So it's almost like making money!"

I make a point to box up all of my ebay sales while the wife is around, racks up the points....Driving a pile of shit car with no payment helps alot too. Although I really have no money issues with my wife...normally when something new comes in, something old usually leaves.

Those are the best... My wife was asking back in July if I was thinking of trading my Honda in and getting the pick up I want... Nope, I have had no major issues with my car besides the basics so it stays and save me one less payment a month

Having reached the theoretical max of n-1=5, the battles are now over wheels. I have to sell something.

Throw in SS and it becomes even more difficult. 1 SS, 1 geared rigid, 1 geared FS, CX, Road. 5 Bikes. Now if you race forget it. Add at least 2 more, plus wheels.

Miraculously I'm down 5 (road, flip flop cross, HT, FR, DJ). I want the HT and DJ to smush and make a baby so I can get down to 4.

Tour de Pink
The East Coast Tour De Pink has come and gone and it was a really great event. There was an option for a metric or standard century and I opted for the 100 miles. I knew at some point I would break away from our group but I did stay with them for longer than I thought. I knew if I stuck around too long, that I would be stuck by myself, which isn’t a good option, but I didn’t want to ride all day long either. I chatted up the first two hours and rode with Lou a bunch and talked to some other people I know. At the second rest stop, we were averaging around 14 mph and still have 77 miles to ride. I knew at that point, I needed to break off. I rode with Lou, Dustin and Bill for awhile, but on a long gradual hill, I left them for dead. I stopped at a stop sign after a long straight and looked back and they were nowhere in site, so I took off. The PA side of the river is tough and even though the climbs were that steep of long, it was never flat. I kept waiting for the long downhill back to the river and seemed to never come. I hit the lap button around mile 40, but I was alone before that time. After around 1.5 hours by myself (almost the whole PA side), there was finally the long, blazing fast downhill back to the river. Crossed back to NJ and a few miles up there was a rest stop. That this point I saw Jeff Lenosky and his group just leaving the rest stop and one of the guys ask if I was hopping on their train, to which I said, ofcourse. Seeing those guys was great as it gave me some time to rest on the route 29 flats. I took some long pulls as most of the guys were pretty spent from riding the previous day in pouring rain. Lenosky took some long pulls too and that dude is like riding behind a box truck. I hit the lap button again when I hooked up with them, which I was surprised to see the average was the same speed as me solo on the pa side. In any case, I finished with this group and had great finish to the ride. All in all I felt great most of the day and am looking forward to ride this again next year!

That random kid looks a lot like your wife. Did the mailman do this ride too?

I'd say 2011 was a sucess in the riding department:

rode 282 days
7500 miles
463 hours (38 hours were at the bmx trails, so a combination of jumping and digging).
149 days commuting by bike.

Biggest riding months were January?, October and November.

First MTB race at the six pack and did my second on at Mooch Madness.

We will see what 2012 brings. A few things fell together right during 2011 that allowed some longer rides early in the year and it doesnt look like that is going to happen this year. So, OPC in the house!

I am not, wife's birthday weekend doesn't fair well with being gone all day.

Birthday Weekend????
When did birthdays turn into a 2 day event.

Since you're blowing us off you have to show up at the next MTBNJ sponsored event. I want to say we are going to have a picnic in the fall, so pencil us in for sometime in early October.
