2022 31/31 Ride daily for bragging rights and a reward. TM / Jorba / MtbNJ /

July 15th 1 hour 40 mins day something of 20 which I'm not going to complete

The @w_b dragged me out early for my birthday ride. I showed all the new changes since he's been out.
Saw a huge tree down on the fire road from the buttermilk lot. The park system been notified.

Took him out on the new twin lights trail.

Here's some history of coast guard

I took a picture of the light house lens. Look how bright it is and it's lit only by a few 100 watt bulbs.

7/16/22

12 of 20+ ( I think?)

Todays plan was to get at least a metric ride in but I didn’t think I was gonna make it since I went to bed too late and woke up tired.

Left early to meet a friend and get some pre shop ride miles in. He left at 5:15 and was already 25+ miles in when we met up. It was cloudy and super humid most of the day I was soaked even after just the first hour of riding.

Once we split off from the main group and did our faster pace my legs slowly started to feel better. We did some hard efforts towards the end and overall the pace was faster than I expected. This meant I had 45 minutes to spare before curfew time and only 12 miles to get to 62.3. Decided To go for it and added an extra loop and made it home exactly on time (it shows 9:30 but my old Garmin won’t move forward with DST anymore so it was 10:30 on the dot)

On the downside my bike started making a clunking/knocking noise when pedaling during the last hour of riding which I suspect might be the rear wheel hub again which means I need to bite the bullet and find new rim brake wheels since I don’t want to try repairing it again. Sigh.

16/31: As expected, but not unwelcome, the Man Children I was supposed to ride with bailed. Mike rolled in around 5:30 AM and Jerry drank too much bourbon the night before. That's OK, OG Mah-Dick Hooligan Loop was not a well thought out plan.

Grabbed a couple more hours sleep and did the local Laddey Loop. I typically belt and suspender recording these rides with Garmin and phone. @clarkenstein runs a tight ship and my character is questionable at best to trust me on my word, should something go wrong. Took a risk and left the Garmin home. It felt great to not check the screen while riding.

More than halfway done.

Day 15 of riding was a race. MASS Escape Granogue Endurance 45+. Rode the Pivot T429v3. Man this bike is amazing for long events. Got in 6 laps for 10th of 21.
This is private property and no riding other than during races, so not attaching the Strava check out my ride link.

Day 16: This ride was centered around a stop at Black River Roaster

Oddly, we had a free weekend day and we decided not to mountain bike. Having been away for a bit already, once in a while we take the opportunity to stay local, and today was 1 oof those days. We walked the dog in the morning then got around to riding just before lunch. Parked at Burnt Mills Park then knocked out a 30+ mile loop on some familiar roads out there. Felt pretty good, the heat wasn't too bad.

As the ride title suggests, this ride was based on a pit stop at Black River Roaster. I really like that this place exists, even if I do think they have lost a step somewhere along the line. It's a shame, as they used to be better. I got a pourover there a few weeks ago that was flat-out terrible. The double espresso is still good, which is what I got today.

New saddle day, which was a welcome upgrade to my 900 year old previous one.

16/31 Return of the Wookiee to Tiger Woods.
I’ve ridden past this trail countless times since I got sick and today I said “Fuck it, I’m going in”. I did better than I thought, I guess losing 60# really does make a difference and yes I did dab,
but only twice and they were from close encounters with vegetation.
