CO trip day 2 at Winter Park.
Check out my activity on Strava: https://strava.app.link/635mv7kIjxb
i was out in vail a couple of weeks ago with a group of 8 guys in various degrees of fitness. Even the guy in the best shape was really affected by the altitude. Does it bother you? if You’ve been out there before, has getting in better shaped changed how it affects you? Just curious, we all felt it pretty good.

Hittin the boat tomorrow!
Enjoy. It was a bit crowded, but it was Saturday. Lift lines were longer, but the staff kept it moving and controlled. Hitting Winter Park again this morning for a partial day. Need to return my rental, stop along I70 to watch the Super Bowl, head to Denver Intl and take the red eye home to PHL. Hopefully to a city celebrating an E-A-G-L-E-S win.

Hope they don't burn down the airport.

Another bluebird low 30’s day at the ‘boat. A bit knackered from my first day so didn’t last as long, but managed some good runs at Sunshine before lunch. This place has a bit of everything. Going to get into the teens Tues to Thurs so might take a day off. Last day (Friday) should be warmer.

@roc just seeing your question about altitude. I was at Winter Park in '20 and at my big boy weight. After a few days of work conferencing in Denver enjoying food and beer at many of the breweries, definitely was feeling the altitude as we were staying in a hotel near the W.P. base area. Restless sleep, elevated HR, occasionally breathless, body fatigue and headache. Had a hard time keeping up with the 3 others on the mountain.

This time around, other than a dull headache, a bit of restless sleep and sore ankles from pressure points in my boots, the fitness had me not really feeling the altitude. Did a good job of staying hydrated, eating much healthier and though I've posted in the Beer thread, kept it well in check. Think I probably fared the best over the others. No problem keeping up with them, except for the times I needed to relieve myself from water intake.

Nice. Discovered that boarder cross area on our last run of the day to the base. Was a great way to end the day. And after I had just been part of a pretty scary collision with a small dude. He made a sudden right turn into my backside field of view. Wrapped him up like a linebacker and managed to not fall on him, but did land on his pole and bent it pretty good. Spooked his parents, mom freaked out and dad asked if I was OK before asking him.

Powder day today at Steamboat. About 4” overnight and until about noon. Got tracked out pretty quick but we still found some stashes here and there throughout the day. The snow piles were soft and very easy to surf. Legs are shot so tomorrow’s a day off.

If you're taking today off and looking for a good meal, we ate here after our day on the slopes of Steamboat last Saturday.

Windham:

An update regarding the East Peak Express Quad: On Monday at 2:48 PM, Windham Mountain lift maintenance mechanics responded to the East Side Express Quad (G-Lift) after chairs stalled in the drive terminal. As they attempted to manually move chairs through the terminal, the clutch was not allowing incoming chairs to pass through. Mechanics attempted to bypass the clutch, but after inspection of the clutch bearing, the team determined spinning the lift would create further damage. Ski Patrol immediately began rope evacuation of the lift’s 37 passengers in order to ensure safe offload. There were zero injuries. The East Side Express Quad is not open today as the lift maintenance team awaits replacement parts. Installation is expected to be complete and the lift operational by Wednesday or Thursday. Rope evacuations remain rare, and it is a testament to the training of our entire staff that we are ready to respond when they do occur. We remain grateful to Ski Patrol and our Lift Maintenance teams for their efforts.

Let's not risk damaging a clutch bearing.......37 people can shit themselves instead.

Also Windham:

$175 for a single day ticket for this Saturday?!!???????

oofa! If you want a sticker shock, look at the prices at Steamboat or Vail.
Consolidation in the ski industry is the cause of this... However, if you ski enough buy a Ikon or Epic.

With days I've used and plan to use my daily ticket cost will be an avg of $74... hope to bring it lower 🙂

yep, I'm well aware of price gouging on day tix, but geez at vail, steamboat, even killington, a bit more value for your money versus windham, and their what 1500 foot elevation difference.

you really can’t beat the price of either. I went with the epic this year, it was $900, or somewhere around there. I’m at 12 Days. Right around $75/day and that was at park city, vail and bc.

plus, when you do buy the pass, it really makes you plan a few trips. I like it for that reason as much as anything else!
