2nd Annual MTBNJ Picnic

I'm showing up but I don't know when or with who. If someone wants to stop by The Great Wazu in East Hanover I will donate a 6ix-Foot sub and a case of water. I won't be there but the employees will know to give it to you for free. Any pick-up volunteers?

I'll be coming south on 287, wouldn't be a problem to pick up the sub on the way in.

I'll be bringing a kid or two, possibly a spouse and definitely some teriaki beef sticks. How is the grill situation? What are we cooking on? Do we need fuel? I can supply a campstove or two and small propane bottles if ya need..

Assuming I can make it, I'll be bringing my camera...

As for food, not sure yet; the new lens made me broke! Haha.

Rain?

Looking at the forecast it looks like we might have sprinkles throughout the day or at some point. Is there a plan if we see rain to make sure everyone is stays dry?
😕

Pavilion + umbrellas. It's only 40% chance 5 days from now. Let's not start panicking.

Does anyone have an address for GPS navigation? I didn't see anything on the park web site.

I got this address off Microsoft Streets and Trips:
270 SR-24,
Morristown, NJ 07960.

I found this address on the Morris County Parks web site:

Lewis Morris County Parks
270 Mendham Road
Location: Mendham and
Morris Township, NJ

SR-24, CR-510, and Mendham Road are the same road.

General Info:

For those that were at last year's picnic, please note that we are using a different pavilion this year.

Here is a map of the portion of the park we will be in.

The area of the picnic has large shade trees, a decent walking path, horseshoe pit, softball field, and a small lake with a beach. The Boathouse (labeled on map) has relatively clean bathrooms. I and someone else will be bringing some wood "skinnies" for the little and big kids to play on. Bring your bike.

Be careful when driving through the park. The rangers are equipped with RADAR and are not afraid to use it. 🙄

How does the size of the pavilion compare to last years?

Wish it would be dry enough to toss some shoes.

Rain or shine

Newb here wanting to attend this event. How are the trails there in the rain?

They're generally fine with shedding rain. But at this point there's a 100% chance of rain tomorrow and 90% for Saturday. So I think this will be limited to straight up picnicing. And maybe some horse shoes 🙂

Without digging through months of posts, can you please describe the structure that will keep the guests dry. I will be driving kinda far and was wondering what to expect. If it is a wash for riding will the alcohol limit be raised a few drinks?😕
