Well I’ve had an interesting week 🤦♂️
On Monday I had a visit with doc Amin regarding my treatment and all seems to be going well, no changes in protocol yet. I did ask about my vision as it had gotten worse and he told me I could have had a mini stroke or some other nonsense. Since it was a late appointment, I went home and had some dinner and would research eye docs on Tuesday.
Tuesday came and the wife was going to research doc and there was no internet, no tv either. Well this turned into a 2 day affair with half the Verizon fleet on my street replacing a bunch of fiber optic cables due to a pesky squirrel nest…go figure.
So on Thursday I called an approved doctor and the receptionist quizzed me as to what my issues were. She said hold on second please and a few seconds later says can you make it here in an hour?? Then I got nervous!! So I go in and get examined and a doc says he was sorry but I have a detached retina. He also said he was calling the retinal specialist next door to see if he could see me. Shortly after that they sent me to their Tom’s River office and said they’re waiting for you. Now this was getting late in the day and my gut was twisting up as to why the rush. The doc there said my retina had detached in 3 places, but said there was no reason it occurred other than “Mother Nature”. The wife said it’s a common side effect of the biologic drug I’m getting…. Go figure. So the doc did a cryo surgical process which involves needles in the eye and a freezing process in hopes that it will help reconnect. The alternative is a hospital stay and general anesthesia. So he did the procedure and they sent me home, but I had to return the next day for another. My wife can’t drive very far and today presented me with a travel issue, but all was good after a call to @Mitch who took the time out of his day to take me there, wait patiently for me, and brought me home. Luckily I was in and out so he didn’t have to wait long. Thanks brother.
So before the first treatment I had lost over 3/4 of my vision in my right eye, it was scary. But this morning after I was able to open my eye, I saw stuff!!! The tests supported the fact that the procedure was effective and he proceeded with day 2. So now it’s a wait and heal time, no nothing for 10 days, I’m gonna go nuts.
