Chimney Rock - Beat My Time

Here it is.

Course was decided by Me, Woody, and Dave (DC29)
There were a few stops to discuss the proper route. The plan was to not ride the same trail twice at all and we accomplished it. (mostly thanks to Woody)

There are some fun spots, like crossing the dam 😀
I suggest not going after a rain storm as the water will be a little high as we found out today.

Any questions about the loop, post em up here. I think next Thursday I will do the C - rock group ride and do this loop.... but faster and No Stops.

Looks awesome. Blue counter clockwise to Red to Orange to Yellow to White? Now all I need is a Garmin.

Wow thanks, I was way off. I'll have to try this out, it seems as many times as I have ridden CR I have always ridden alot of the trails the same way. Since that first Thursday ride you led I have learned to switch it up a bit and it makes the place much more interesting. I didn't know garmin connect had that feature either, pretty cool.

Sweet. That is a good time for that route. I'll give this a whirl 1 of these days.

Chris,
Any time you want to borrow my Garmin just swing by my house before you ride.

I'm going to use this just as a route to follow, since I will get lost going to CR by myself.

No takers on this yet?

Kirt - Thanks that's awesome of you and I may take you up one that one of these days. Although I found a bike shop right next to my new job so it is going to be very difficult not to spend the paychecks from my new job 🙂

I'm going to do the loop tomorrow with lou for fun and post up the time. my phone might die by then lol

I wound up crashing on the fireroad climb(stupid log) on Tuesday. I'm going to give it another shot today. I have no garmin so my mediocre time will surely be unofficial as the head judge of this particular course is very strict.

Nah, lemmy doesn't ride. Karver , what type of time are you posting on this soon to be famous race course?

jRoadie put a hurting on me today. I thought I might be able to hang with him through white, but he finished me off on the first climb on blue. The course is tough! 1:22:50

Down you go:

However, you may have to DQ me. Towards the end I took what I expected to be the path. When I got towards the bottom, I realized I was coming back on the loop. Coming back down the red trail, alongside the fire road climb, I took what I consider the "standard" way down. Somewhere along the line it goes right, and loops back in - I actually don't even know the trail that I missed. I think it's only 100-200 yards difference, and the distance doesn't look to be any different. But I was off course, so feel free to assess a penalty or DQ me entirely.

The new trail built yesterday is sweet, very much like it.

In all, this is a good mix of trails at CR. I wouldn't call this my favorite loop. But it's solid. Good job not crossing over anything.

Time for others to step up.

I think I know where you strayed. Its probably the same distance. Ill update the thread when I'm in front of a PC.

The new trail is indeed sweet. And word on the trails is that the entire lower blue trail will be converted from the existing crappy double track to sweet flowy single track similar to the new trail. This was just the first step.

Norm should be DQ'ed because you're supposed to go all out on a TT. Not press here and there 😀

My average HR was 160. Not stupid high, but high enough. It wasn't a recovery ride by any means.

Question. Coming out of blue, the course appears to go straight across the road, not the usual slight right towards the lot, then dip back into the woods. It appeared to go right through that chain hanging on the other side of the road. I actually had to get off and walk over that chain. I then noticed a small path that goes around it. Is this where the official course goes?

Also, based on the original link, I started the GPS when I was at the edge of the road and stopped it as soon as I hit the lot.

Answer: Yes, take that little path.. When Woody, Dave and I laid it out, that was the intent. Unless you look for that path it is easy to miss. But even if you have to get off and carry over the chain... its cross season! Here's a spot to practice dismounts and mounts...😀

And I did start and stop the GPS like you said.. all good in the hood
