Commuting

Shut out of Gotham, fairies! Why no alerts for me. Thanks to RU for heads up.

Sorry Matty-
By the time I got the alert, you were already back at your car cursing the Port Authority.

Did you sign up for text or email alerts?
Email is working for me.

Yes i did and tried again but it wouldn't let me this am as it stated email and number already used. Living off the grid i suppose. I now will count on you and RU for bridge alerts, but seriously what was the reason for todays closure.

Huh- are they ending up in your junk mail?
And I don't know what time RU gets up,
but you'll probably know these things before me...
First alert was sent just before 5 though.

I got up when Matt text me to ask if I had any alerts 😀

Matt has to be on the road by the time I'm usually getting ready to get going, but I'll pass along the alerts going forward if I hear/see them.

This reminds me- I inherited a couple sets of vintage Bellwether panniers.
They're old, but pannier technology hasn't changed much since the pony express.
If you commute and can use a set, let me know- they're yours.

(*One pair per commuter, rack not included. While supplies last).

I thought about this today.
I once saw a guy biking the roadway across the bridge in the rain after they closed the ped paths for the night.
Did not look like fun.

Hell no. I'd hire a cab before that..

I'd call Soundz

My rates are $50 per hour for this service. You guys need to think more creatively. Many options available 😀

1) Bus across bridge from Port Washington station. Some NJ transit buses have bike racks up front. The spanish buses will probably let your bike on if there's not too many people and you give them a buck.

2) Waterways ferry to Edgewater.

3) NJ Transit or PATH Train to Hoboken.

4) Bike up North and cross Bear Mtn bridge!

you better answer my call and except my Fame 😀

Ok so who commuted today?

I did and even got me some laps in the park. The worst was GWB, wind from the south driving the rain both hurt and made near impossible to see.

My distance and hours have jumped dramatically in the last couple months and i know some will say he is looking for the kill at SSaP. This is not actually the case though but not a bad idea either. This is for the following race. I have now been at both BS50's and have not finished. That race is brutal and both times were on geared front sussy bikes. Both times afterward I would say never again and so it goes. So to take this to the next brilliant leap i signed up again only this time SS and will be rigid. This is why it's been SS all the time any time. I am creeping close to 2000 miles for the year and all have been on a SS!

Don't lie to us Matt, the truth is your spending too much time riding in the city and are becoming a hipster. Next you'll be cutting down your bars and telling us about how aero your new jeans are 😀

Bus for me today. I'm shooting to ride in Thursday/Friday.

First i would have to get fixed and quite frankly i don't think i want to go there. On that note i do need to put the fixed 16t on the flip side in case my free cog explodes and i am not near a shop like the last time.

Let me know which day you like to start early and i will meet you in overpeck.

I did. Got a pair of the new Craft Bib rain pants and they're awesome compared to my old ones.

-Jim.

I have survived a year now without proper clothing but it is definitely on my list of things to get. Nothing worst then putting on wet gear at the end of the day.

I'm sorta spoiled in that regard. We are set up for commuting. Shower, shelving for spare clothes, and this...

I have a few different levels of rain gear that I've collected over the years. I've been commuting year-round for almost 10 years now so I've gotten a bit of a head start in that regard...

I did not commute in. Considered it, but the downside to keeping the bike into the office is not wanting to bring a soaking bike in.

Kudos to you though- hope you caught the lull in the storm for the ride home.

I told him this when he mentioned going fixie. Next stop: MattybHip.
