SWWW
I stopped my streak last week. I was feeling tired and said ok, that's enough. I need to make sure I don't overdo it. Granted it's an hour a day but still, to go from virtually nothing to every day is a bit much. So to sum up February it went like this:
* First half of month: ride once
* Second half of month: ride every day but 1
That's...ah, something.
I'm going for all 31 in March. I can't win the March competition because I just don't have that kind of time & moxie at this point. But I want to do my best without sacrificing too much sleep to do so.
I have a slight cold again. Boo!
It's warming up and DST is this weekend. That makes me happy. Love the extra hour every day after work now that I ride after work a lot.
That means next Tuesday the Tuesday rides start. You in?
I've ridden each of the first 3 days of the month (2 of 3 with Andy, 1 solo) and we're going out again tonight after work as well as tomorrow. Each of these has been an hour and change. Yesterday I pushed a little on Magic Bike but the Quarq appears to have dead batteries so I had no power. I was able to find an old HRM strap that worked so now I have HR again.
Anyone else have issues with the new HRM strap? I have 2 that suck. Both of them have broken in no time. Yes I changed the batteries in them both. One doesn't read at all and the other reads about 80 BPM too high.
SWWW non-Bike
Julia weekend.
Friday, Julia had some girl scout thing and her mom dropped her off then I picked her up. We went back to the condo after that but it was fairly late in the day. It was a short night but we played Uno, watched a little TV, read a bit, then she went to bed. She now goes to bed by herself, which is cool. She more or less says she's tired, then asks me to close the door behind me. It's very cool.
Saturday we had breakfast with Andy & my parents, then J went to lunch with them, then she went to a Cupcake Club while I shuffled bikes to HG where Jim made them workable again. I think at this point I have 5 working bikes, which is a record. I have 2 presumably non-working bikes. Well 1 for sure and 1 presumed. That night we went to the diner for dinner and then we watched Rio, which she really liked.
Sunday she got up at 7:00 and entertained herself while I stayed in bed until 8:30 or so, at which point she came in and said, "Daddy will you PLEASE get up?" So I did. We then watched Rio again and I made myself some eggs & toast. Later in the morning we went geocaching then grabbed some pizza for lunch. Back at the condo I gave her a bath where she turned the shower stall from a work of art into what appears to be a Crayola Murder Mystery. Either that or 250 crayons were melted and spray painted on the walls. After the bath I dropped her off at a birthday party. After that was over we had barely an hour together. I read to her and made something quick to eat and took her home.
Then I entered what I generally call "the worst 4 hours of every other week". This is the time after I drop her off on alternating Sundays where I dip into a funk after I drop her off. On the way home she told me it was her best weekend ever and that she wants to see me more. Of course I want to hear this. But it makes me a little sad too.
After I dropped her off, I seriously drove around looking for a basketball hoop with lights on so I could shoot some baskets. Lou & I have determined that we both like to play basketball, Byron Scott did not actually grow up in Basking Ridge, and Kirt Rambis was overrated.
Music
Crow - yes
NBK - I do remember liking it at the time
Clerks - solid, belongs in this discussion
Singles - the winner. Love the movie & soundtrack.
Jeremy asks if you can have a favorite band. It's a good question. You really get albums these days. Like you have a Radiohead album that just kills, or PJ Harvey. Yeah, I know many of you won't liker her. But I nod to G on that one. Then you get the next Radiohead or PJ album and you think, boy that's not as good and move on. It's a fair point but the game "what 10 albums would you bring on a desert island?" would suck without the idea of distinct entities. Well, in this case albums, not so much bands. What would I have to include?
* Nothing Shocking
* Ritual de lo Habitual
* Singles soundtrack
* the 50 best cartoon jingles of 1973-1983
No...I don't know how to even answer this question. Can I bring 10 bands?
* Jane's Addiction
* Led Zeppelin
* Van Halen (the early years)
Oh screw it, who am I kidding? I'd rather be stuck on a dessert island than a desert island. Just make sure the beaches are made of chocolate.
A Bold Statement
Jake: "That is the single dumbest thing you have ever posted on this board. Ever."
STB: "That is one tall order."
That rally is a bold statement. Props to Kev for the circular footnote reference again.
That is All
