Dragons are F'ing Awesome

They're basically the same band. Except one is a bit more 'touchy-feely' than the other.
I also get off the bus when they come on the radio.

what's a radio?

That is one tall order. You only think it is dumb because it is true and at one time you potentially fit into those categories*.

*said in the nicest way possible**.

**note, I said potentially*.***

***by potentially, i ment probably*

no, it is dumb despite the fact i freely admit that i fit into the meathead category. 311 wasn't on any meathead play list. megadeth, metallica, anthrax, yes.

Staind is gayer.

Jake, I have the broadest musical taste of anyone I've ever met. My iPod playlist will hop from Wes Montgomery to Suicide Silence to Lady Gaga and everything in between. Except Country. And Phish. And Grateful Dead. Fuck those guys. Oh and Nickleback, screw Nickleback. And Creed, screw Creed. Ok so, I also don't like Jock Jams metal either.

-Jim.

agree on nickleback and creed for sure.
but god, do i love this statement:
Jake, I have the broadest musical taste of anyone I've ever met

did your mom tell you that you were the best french kisser too? :rofl: 😀 :popcorn:

SWWW

I stopped my streak last week. I was feeling tired and said ok, that's enough. I need to make sure I don't overdo it. Granted it's an hour a day but still, to go from virtually nothing to every day is a bit much. So to sum up February it went like this:

* First half of month: ride once
* Second half of month: ride every day but 1

That's...ah, something.

I'm going for all 31 in March. I can't win the March competition because I just don't have that kind of time & moxie at this point. But I want to do my best without sacrificing too much sleep to do so.

I have a slight cold again. Boo!

It's warming up and DST is this weekend. That makes me happy. Love the extra hour every day after work now that I ride after work a lot.

That means next Tuesday the Tuesday rides start. You in?

I've ridden each of the first 3 days of the month (2 of 3 with Andy, 1 solo) and we're going out again tonight after work as well as tomorrow. Each of these has been an hour and change. Yesterday I pushed a little on Magic Bike but the Quarq appears to have dead batteries so I had no power. I was able to find an old HRM strap that worked so now I have HR again.

Anyone else have issues with the new HRM strap? I have 2 that suck. Both of them have broken in no time. Yes I changed the batteries in them both. One doesn't read at all and the other reads about 80 BPM too high.

SWWW non-Bike

Julia weekend.

Friday, Julia had some girl scout thing and her mom dropped her off then I picked her up. We went back to the condo after that but it was fairly late in the day. It was a short night but we played Uno, watched a little TV, read a bit, then she went to bed. She now goes to bed by herself, which is cool. She more or less says she's tired, then asks me to close the door behind me. It's very cool.

Saturday we had breakfast with Andy & my parents, then J went to lunch with them, then she went to a Cupcake Club while I shuffled bikes to HG where Jim made them workable again. I think at this point I have 5 working bikes, which is a record. I have 2 presumably non-working bikes. Well 1 for sure and 1 presumed. That night we went to the diner for dinner and then we watched Rio, which she really liked.

Sunday she got up at 7:00 and entertained herself while I stayed in bed until 8:30 or so, at which point she came in and said, "Daddy will you PLEASE get up?" So I did. We then watched Rio again and I made myself some eggs & toast. Later in the morning we went geocaching then grabbed some pizza for lunch. Back at the condo I gave her a bath where she turned the shower stall from a work of art into what appears to be a Crayola Murder Mystery. Either that or 250 crayons were melted and spray painted on the walls. After the bath I dropped her off at a birthday party. After that was over we had barely an hour together. I read to her and made something quick to eat and took her home.

Then I entered what I generally call "the worst 4 hours of every other week". This is the time after I drop her off on alternating Sundays where I dip into a funk after I drop her off. On the way home she told me it was her best weekend ever and that she wants to see me more. Of course I want to hear this. But it makes me a little sad too.

After I dropped her off, I seriously drove around looking for a basketball hoop with lights on so I could shoot some baskets. Lou & I have determined that we both like to play basketball, Byron Scott did not actually grow up in Basking Ridge, and Kirt Rambis was overrated.

Music

Crow - yes
NBK - I do remember liking it at the time
Clerks - solid, belongs in this discussion
Singles - the winner. Love the movie & soundtrack.

Jeremy asks if you can have a favorite band. It's a good question. You really get albums these days. Like you have a Radiohead album that just kills, or PJ Harvey. Yeah, I know many of you won't liker her. But I nod to G on that one. Then you get the next Radiohead or PJ album and you think, boy that's not as good and move on. It's a fair point but the game "what 10 albums would you bring on a desert island?" would suck without the idea of distinct entities. Well, in this case albums, not so much bands. What would I have to include?

* Nothing Shocking
* Ritual de lo Habitual
* Singles soundtrack
* the 50 best cartoon jingles of 1973-1983

No...I don't know how to even answer this question. Can I bring 10 bands?

* Jane's Addiction
* Led Zeppelin
* Van Halen (the early years)

Oh screw it, who am I kidding? I'd rather be stuck on a dessert island than a desert island. Just make sure the beaches are made of chocolate.

A Bold Statement

Jake: "That is the single dumbest thing you have ever posted on this board. Ever."

STB: "That is one tall order."

That rally is a bold statement. Props to Kev for the circular footnote reference again.

That is All

Please tip your waitress. Thanks!

My HRM strap mysteriously stopped working 3 months ago. Even after changing batteries, still no dice. Therfor I just let my Garmin pick up Lance's HR data and I go by that.😀

you know those things have replaceable batteries, right?

and norm, bonus points for the use of "moxie". i would guess that word's usage skyrockets this month simply because of March Madness.

and kev? pffft. i've met kev in person. i thought the footnote was hysterical.

Yes my avg HR is typically 230 BPM

Yes I remember those days of dropping kids off, typically got very drunk afterwards. I wish I could say it gets better.

I really dig PJ Harvey she got me through tough time.

ah the old desert island disc, who started it Muni, Fornatale or Kerr?

* who knew http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desert_Island_Discs

I was posing this as a trick question cuz I thought it was the nightbird AS...

funny hr strap battery story....

put new one in, doesn't work, figure it is the strap - kid has something that needs same battery. put it in, doesn't work....put in other battery from pack, doesn't work.

hmmm

inspect battery, it has some type of plastic safety cover on it that needed to be peeled off - almost invisible - duh. shouldn't it be red?

4me, at least 1 of these stupid things per day. today, leave for allaire, get a mile down the road, and wonder where my helmet, gloves, etc are - i put them out on the edge of the counter, so i wouldn't forget. i forgot....

----

desert island bands:
aerosmith: can pick a decade, and let them have at it
eric clapton & iterations: don't forget this fact, you can't get it back...
anything with paul rogers would work too
and ritchie blackmore - i'm a highway star
b.sabbath with ozzy, dio scares me

trying to think, but nothing is happening (again)

tuesday ride out of HG?

My trick is to just leave everything in my car at all times in an old milk crate.

we will play soon!

If I had to guess I would say at one point in my life I had easily 2k in basketball sneakers and a game to back it up... I gave them all away to my close friend of mine in 2005 when i stop playing... Last week I was at my parents house and was snooping around what was my room and came across a pair of Nike Air Raids I used for outdoor play... I will meet up with you and Lou for some hoops

even better than the mtbnj.com sushi eat off would be an mtbnj.com pickup basketball game.

that would be fun. i'm miserable at basketball even though i played through high school. my wife (5'2, and that's stretching her height) runs circles around me. she can ball. i have zero skills other than fouling people continually and shot blocking.

I am with you, i went out for it one year then came to the conclusion i can't run and dribble at the same time. I can shoot so i am good for a game of horse.

see, this is pretty much what i thought i'd get. i am TERRIBLE at basketball.

kinda like golf being a nice walk made shitty by a stupid ball, basketball is just a bunch of horrible sprints disguised as a sport *BY* stupid a ball.

Dude I heart the ideal of a bball game... maybe there could be an MTBNJ sporting event every few months... a bball game, a softball game, etc... oh and riding bicycles every now and again is fun too 🙄

I have a freshly paved regulation size court literally across the street from my front door. I could squirt you all with the hose.

we just got my son a hoop for his birthday. At the 8' setting I can hit shots all over. It is fun to just shoot around. HORSE was something I could always compete with the jocks on during gym class. But when it comes to actually playing, can't speak there.
