It was a great doing enduro format for the first time. I thoroughly enjoyed it much more than hot laps. Also, the trails here are NWWWICE. Great flow and a good mix of everything, roots, rocks, boulders, and berms! Great job VMBA
I totally missed the S1 clock out and had to double back like 50 feet. S1 & 2 was pretty normal. S3 a boulder section. S4 and 5 was brown pow descents! The transition from 2 to 3 was longest and uphill. The 650b! hardtail did great but it was tough. The rocks tend to steer a HT where you don't want to go where as you just float over them on a FS. There were definitely some booters I wished I had a full suspension for. At the end of S5 you could definitely launch off this pretty big roller. I normally don't ride a hardtail on rocks but my freeride bike would be too much for enduro. If any of you have any ca$h to give me, PM me. Turner Burner?! :hmmm:
Some things I didn't like was the one guy said pass but kept pedaling while there was really no room to pass safely. DUDE you have to just stop pedaling and move over. Eventually I passed while he was still moving but I definitely got held up but I tried to be nice and calm because I wasn't going to win anyways and you always listen to the Rule#1 have a good time and don't be a dick. I think they should do heats at the beginning to avoid waiting a cold. Or just get to the start before everyone else is a good plan for the future.
One last great thing about this race was seeing all the bling I like. Full suspension, dropper posts, 26" wheels!, big stanchions! and all sorts of dope non hardtail shit you don't see at a cross country races. Oh, and I was lucky enough to walk away with some optics to replace the only pair I had and lost at the 100miler. Solid
And I saw a 29er FS OTB due to it's high center of gravity
😉
RIDE ON! Thanks for an awesome race again!
