Fifth Street CX

norm dont you live behind a recycling center?

Junkyard.

Across the street is Harmony Summer Camp. There's a ropes course and a giraffe in the miniature golf course. Maybe this could work.

Changed the original post - it's still $10 per day. There's a one-time $5 number fee for the cloth number. This also helps offset this year's insurance bump.

In case Otto's isn't enough for you during the week, there's Fifth Street in Emmaus on Thursdays. It's a haul, but it's worth it. Racing starts at 6:30-ish. Headlights are a must. Tubulars at your own risk. Two heats. 4 laps, then reverse course for 3. Beer occasionally provided by Funk Brewery, who do not suck. Entry fee: $10/week for two races. Number fee of $5 charged once each season w/USAC license. Not sure about day ofs. (Used to be cheaper, but the USAC insurance went up...)

The series will go on Thursdays through December. Halloween week, it's on Wednesday, as Emmaus does the trick or treating as a town on Thursday.
After party at Volpes in town every week. They sometimes have Maine Brewing Company beers.
This will also be the course for Solstice CX, so consider it the world's longest pre-ride.

So, do we pre reg somewhere for this or just show up with a handful of cash? I am in for next Wednesday. How many peeps were there last night?

It's day-of registration/on-site (I asked the promoter/posted on their wall with the same question).

It's usually on Thursday nights - but the 28th is an exception/date moved due to town Halloween festivities.

Right... and tonight is Thursday night. I wonder how many people will be there tonight... I am still in for next Wednesday... From what I remember about solstice cross, it is a fun course.

The numbers are going up. Last week was over 60 racing, with a bunch o folks just hanging out and yelling. It's gonna be WARM tonight.

wow, that is a lot more than I expected. I probably could have pulled it off tonight if I planned a bit better. Are head lamps enough?

So, how about this Wednesday? Looks to be a bit balmy and wet. I need to decide between committing to this or playing in my regular Wednesday night ice hockey game.

@pearl @SpartaBard! It's on for Wednesday night. Go time it 6:30ish. Figger a coupla minutes to get registered and get your number (remember the $5 one time number charge). Bard, you can get there whenever early. It's gonna be wet though. You may not WANT to pre-ride too much. Also, bring a brush or pointy stick to clear the mud out of yer stuff in between races. Helps. As for timing, if I bail after the second heat, I'm usually home around nine. Having a burger at Volpe's will get me back at 10:30 or later, depending on what I wash said burger down with. That's the only place to eat in Pennsylvania, btw.
