Generic Pro Road Cycling Thread

Giro has always been sold as the hardest of the grand tours but the last few years the Vuelta has been giving it a run for its money.

IMHO it's "Backdraft Effect". Sky's been sucking all the air (life) out of The Tour like the giant vacuum from Spaceballs...so when the air returns the riders at The Vuelta get a boost more potent than anything found in a syringe.

2c.

The last few years, the Giro has picked up a reputation among the rides in the last few years of being rip-your-leg-off fast every single day. The jittery riding of the first few days has lasted the entire race. I'm not sure anyone ever identified a reason but possibly because Giro racers are all one small step from a future Tour spot and trying to prove their worth.

It makes for great TV but isn't the safest for the riders.

Also be on the lookout for TrainingPeaks screenshots when the races finishes up. Alex Howes posted this after stage 10. Huuuuuge TSS/KJ numbers.

That's like, my all-time TSS. As in the cumulative TSS of my entire life.

280 TSS per day for 10 days straight sounds miserable. The average human, heck even a higher category racer, would crumble under that load. Also I don't think its humanly possible to eat 4,000-6,000 calories a day for that long.

So yeah, top 4 gc under a min. Peeps saying Quintana/nibali would need a 90 second buffer in dumolin and q-tana currently only has 38 and Nibali in 3rd needs 5 seconds to math. Dumo.

Mountains tomorrow, could dumo take a crap like the Vuetla (or like the other day). But can q-tana take another 60 seconds to get the bigger he needs, hmmmm. This is also assuming q-tana doesn't take a major TT crap like the other TT. Niabli is a better TT rider but I like need to stay with a q-tana attack, while could be likely. Pino right there too.
Will be good to watch

Guys guys guys. I was at a coffee shop after a bike race today and Alex Howes walked in. A real live World Tour rider and finisher of all three Grand Tours. I creepily asked him for an awesome picture. Am I going to be famous??!

Yes, yes you will.

Oh wait, rides for Vaughters, NO.

Man, Dauphine was good to see Frooome get flagged but man, poor Richie Porte, dudeman had the race won and then Sky fawked him in the keister by blowing the shit up early and they probably damn well knew Froome was going to pop but at the end of the day they stole the win from Porte. Guessing they know something from when he was on Sky, or maybe he knows too much about what marginal gains really are.

So signs are looking good that maybe from wont be on form for Le Tour, but you and i both know Dauphine wasn't the target for the Froomster but it sure was a boost in morale for the team by winning Dauphine. Maybe that accident Froome has a few weeks ago actually did some damage?

Well here you go, your 2018 TDF champion. About as exciting as a piece of toast.

Sky relased their TDF team today. 2-3 possibly leaders on lower budget teams, 2-3 other super stars in certain areas. I just can't see anyone topping them with the depth they have.

What was that? Porte? Haha, you funny.

Since Velonews online kinda sucks with all of the ads, is there another online source for TdF stage news?
