GT350R Carbon Fiber Wheel Info

That price range is a tough sell. Thats certified Z06 or Carrera S territory.
Id still take a gt-350r over either of those.....Who knows what a run of the mill current 911 will be worth one day, but corvettes hold their value like used benz's. Your not spending that extra ADM money because a gt350r is faster around the track than a z06...moreso because in 20 years the z06 will be worth half what you paid for it if your lucky...The mustang...go look at prices for what would now be a "pedestrian" 390 horsepower 03 cobra. Or a 245HP 93 cobra. If you bought one new, kept it in nice shape...you'd be pretty happy today with your return. And these werent anywhere near the performance cars the current GT350 is. Plus the gt350-r, im sorry it just a more special car...sound, feel than grandpas vette.

Z06 annual production - 7000
GT350R annual production - 700 (for 4 years)

Z06 annual production - 7000
GT350R annual production - 700 (for 4 years)
The 90s ZR1 vettes for example. Typically 400 or so per year...If you paid the 60-70k for one in the 90s (or about 100-110k in todays money) you have taken an absolute bath on that car. Post ~1970 corvettes are HORRENDOUS investments.

Agree completely. I've never been a Corvette guy. But 650hp for $70,000 in a very capable chassis is still impressive considering a loaded Explorer is $50,000 now.

I’m not buying a car like this to be an investment or garage queen. I’m buying one to drive the shit out of it, every day if I can. I want to sit there in my old age satisfied that I completely wore out a Carrera S, extracted every bit of driving pleasure from it.

Porsche hold their value better than any production car coming out of Detroit or Dearborn. The only Ford that will actually appreciate is the Ford GT. How special is something when you can go to a car show this summer and see 3 or 4 Z06’s and GT 350’s parked next to each other, driven by a bunch of dudes in their mid-70’s? None of these modern limited-edition cars are as “special” as they used to be. At one time a BMW M-car, Audi S or RS4, Benz AMG were special. Not very common, really limited edition. Now they’re ubiquitous, a dime a dozen. You can go and find one at any time, on any dealer lot. GM and Ford are following the same model. They’ll do the same thing with the next generation of their Vette and Mustang also, and they’ll make even more of them. They’ve always been slow on the uptake, but they’re finally catching on. If you want a modern car as an investment, I think you need to already be buying a car in the 6-figures. Maybe, maybe if you buy a GT2-RS or GT3 Touring and stick it in a garage somewhere it will be worth more in the future. Although, quite honestly, you can probably make just as much money sooner with that $200k investing in other things. Maybe make some smart equity picks in the down-market.

I dont understand this statement....if you went out and bought a 911, you want to use it as your everyday vehicle? bc thas a great way for it to lose whatever special feeling it has really quickly. And the nice thing about a 911 or gt350 vs corvette is that you can actually use it for 10 years, then sell it without getting hosed. Well i mean you cant say that for sure about a 2018 911, bc there are plenty of 996's that could be had for really cheap.

The only Ford that will actually appreciate is the Ford GT.

im sorry, I have no idea where you can back that statement up......go look at the prices for crap box fox body mustangs that cost 12,000 brand new. Or the 05-06 ford GT...if you bought one of those new you can easily have doubled your money and "wrapper" versions are bringing 6-7 times their original price. It has nothing to do with whether or not a mustang is a better car...that is totally irrelevant when it comes to what is desired...The VW bug and bus were two of the biggest pieces of shit vehicles ever made, has no effect on their desirability. There have been special edition mustangs every year going back to 1965 and dam near ALL of them would have been sound investments (even shitbox mustang II king cobras) in that if you bought one, it would at least hold its value. Nobody is arguing that a porsche doesnt hold its value, MOST do, not all tho.

Could not disagree more....in 1993 a cobra mustang had slightly better heads/cam/intake, 17" wheels, and OMG 4 wheel disc brakes!!! Compare that to what they are doing now...carbon wheels, totally unique engine, magnetic shocks...people will never not want the GT-350....Just like people will never not want to listen to an air cooled 930 turbo. Doesnt matter if the new GT3 can run rings around it.

Yes, I would use it as my everyday vehicle, barring a snow storm. My current car is 14yrs old, and I still love getting into, love the sound of that V8, how the power-band hits. I don't buy my cars based on what they will be worth, I buy them based on what they are worth to me and my quality of life now. Only point I'm making is that not everyone values resale that much.

Those Fox bodied cars where from a time before there was a special edition every year. And $25k for a concours quality VW Bug? Who gives a shit unless your selling 100 of them. 40 years to make $25k isn't a good investment in my book.

Carbon wheels are a gimmick, and everyone has magnetic shocks now, not unique. I agree that people will never not want the GT-350. Porsches are unique in that there is a huge Cool-Aid factor at play. People will pay big money for an old air-cooled car with a shitty interior, that will get smoked in every way by a GTI. My only point is that life is short, drive hard now.

This is the same argument that's played out on any car forum ever. To each his own. I like the Corvette but you should see me try and get in and out of one. It's actually comical. That's a deal killer for me. Camaro isn't much better. I love the LS motors (the Coyote and 5.2L, too), but the Mustang/GT350 is more usable day to day. For me, I think the best argument you can make against the GT350 right now is that you can get a GT Performance Pack Level 2 for at least $12,000 less that's 90% of the car and a better torque curve (but you lose that crazy exhaust note).

I did the same dance with the M2. I drove 16 Caymans and 17 Caymans and couldn't justify the extra $20,000+ for me. I couldn't justify a $70,000 turbo 4. Or the S55 in the M3/M4 for $70,000. And I'd always really want a Cayman GTS or GT4 anyway. Maybe someday.

Now I want a 2000 Civic Si. Not sure what that says about me but I probably won't part with the money that it takes to get one that's clean and unmolested, even though I probably wouldn't lose money on that either.

Now I want a 2000 Civic Si
Test drove a new one in 2000, and thought it was so much fun. But I knew I needed a car with more usable space for hauling bikes, so my VW ownership continued.

Always had a little regret that I couldn't make the Si work.

Ready to take a pension loan, @ChrisG?

A friend of mine from at work back in the day had that car, I had a lower GTI with adjustable shock, sway bars, etc. We used to switch cars all the time. Motor was like my GSX-R motor, the action didn’t start till 1500rpm from redline. The Si was what I wished VW did with the GTI at the time, from the factory. He traded his Si in for an S2000. Now that is the car you want. I’m not a Honda guy, but they got it right with that car. A front wheel drive car is a front wheel drive car. No matter how great they make them, they are what they are. And as far as front drivers go, a 2008 or newer GTI is better in every way.

I'm so excited I have to find my electron blue 1999 Si photos and videos. Sold it in 2005? with 130k miles.
It had a catback, intake, wing, wheels, factory underbody. VTEC ain't the same today. It was a screamer and juvenile, crazy torque steer. It was actually quite roomy too and filled with hard plastic. Great mpg. It was awesome! It miss the fucking thing! BAT has previous examples that went for $10k. That isn't bad at all.

One day when I get my 6 car garage it's just gonna be vintage Honda/Acuras, NSX, s2000, prelude type SH, Si, Type Rs, beat, oh that's like 8, fuck.
So glad this turned into a Honda thread... The weather and road salt better be clear by April for me to hoooon my s2k!!!

Someone make this guy an offer. You will not regret it! (2002 last year of 9k redline)

A co-workers uncle has a 2001 Prelude Si 4WS with 50K miles. Minty clean, white exterior. Two problems...it has dealer-installed leather and it's an auto. Otherwise I'd bug him daily about it.

That Civic si would be a cool commuter car. It'll run forever and get 35mpg.

The only problem is 160hp is a lot less than it used to be. That car is probably light as hell which would help, but still.

Ya know what, I take it back. 160 in a car you can actually wind through the gears would be fun.

You cant wind through the gears in new cars. You'll be double the speed limit but the time you get through 3 gears. The mustang probably does 100 in 2nd. What fun is that.
