IGVENTURE

I was riding towards a segment owned by road prick with mad intent on knocking him down when my Garmin died. No longer did I feel the need to push hard, no one would know. I still tried, but I'm sure that I would have had a stronger overall ride if I had data to upload on Strava.

Chris, you're riding strong without it, but it is a good tool.

Which segment? Maybe we'll go out tomorrow and set the bar higher. You see I pushed Allen Road 5 seconds further away?

This is why Strava is fun.

My Garmin did the same shit today.. I think the latest update has something to do with it, or solar flares. Cannonball......Cannonball coming!

Hunter Road. I know it would be temporary if I got it, but it would be great to be KOM for a day or two.

Allen and Roundtop will take a huge effort and a major headwind for me to get by you. I hate those climbs, they're so damn painful when trying to beat a time.

I do most of my mtbnj blog reading at lunch time.
I can chime in or I can eat.
Eating usually wins.
I enjoy MidPack.

Where's Hunter? Pretty sure that's not me.
It's called Somerville Rd. from Washington Valley, though the start is on Hunter. I like that one. Don't know how hard you pushed, but I think I can improve my time on that one.

Oh yeah, that is me.

I pushed pretty hard. But that's on the Tuesday night ride now. Add people and records always get obliterated.

I'm still here Iggy, this wedding finally gave me some much needed catch up time.

Hello Iggy ,we did trail maintenence together at allaire. I lurk here also

Hey Will, I know you're brother in-law Jerry from the mcps. hopefully i'll bump into you again at a tm at Allaire, i'm due for an appearance.

Strava is a usefull training tool, no doubt. I am afraid to jump on that band wagon doe. My fear is not being able to go out for a ride on the road without fixating on taking a kom. That and too much number stuff.

I am going with the ignorance is bliss route and on my death bed I will recieve total consciousness...so at least i got that going for me.

you take sally, i'll take sue, aint no difference between the two.

Ok so lets recap the week, not too much to go over. Before heading to Norm's house on Tuesday for a road ride I stopped at HG and dropped off my mtb so Vreeland can fix the rear shifter. I thought it was shot but Jim was able to put a new cable on it and tune it up. Its amazing how easy the thing shifts now and the fact that it stays in gear is a huge plus as well, thanks Jim. Doing the BS50 with gears that work well will be more fun.

After the stop at HG I drove up the hill to Norm's house to meet Germy, Utah and Pugsley. I saw Germy in HG as well earlier when I was bringing my bike in. Dressed in his khaki pants and a golf shirt while holding a huge bike box in his hand, I thought he was working there. Germy looks like he could be a salesman. I look like I could be Carl Spackler. Utah said he gained weight in FL but in this pic he looks smaller.

We cruised around for a couple hours on the modified HG A ride Norm put together. It was a little longer version on slightly less busy roads then the usual A ride. The pace was moderate with everyone content to just put some miles in. I know Black River Rd and Pottersville rd well and pushed a pace during those sections but other then that it was a mellow night. Utah was not feeling well after his trip to FL but as usual he never bails and just slogs along no matter how bad he feels. He is a trooper.

Norm's wife, Natalie, served us up some pasta with meat sauce that was most delicioius after the ride. I like these Tuesday nights, its something to look forward to in the middle of the week. Riding with people forces me to push myself more which is always more enjoyable then suffering alone on some lonely road. The bonus is to chill after the ride and listen to Utah recap his wknd. He always has some good stories to tell.

Oh and this pic was inspired by Norm's daughter Julia. As we were leaving Julia came out in here pj's which had this cute image of Fruit Loops being poured into a bowl. Fruit Loops are so underrated, what other breakfast cereal gives you this much color.
