Well I didn't race my bike last wknd but I did get together with my teamates for some socializing. It was fun to meet in a non cycling atmosphere last Saturday night, wear normal clothes, drink and talk loud. My wife has always accused me of talking too loudly and I always shot back with
you speak too softly. At the gathering practically everyone on the team told my wife I speak loudly, I was out numbered. Ok I can be loud sometimes.
The night was like a high school dance, all the dudes huddled up talking guy talk and all the chic's flocked togther and talked girl stuff. The food forced everyone to sit down, eat and act civilized. This is when Santalucia's wife, Kelly, and my wife, Mary started bonding over there loss of there husbands due to cycling. Kelly asks my wife,
how far does you're husband travel to race, my husband drove 30 miles north of Albany to attend a race. I started laughing as I told her, yeah I did that race, you're husband gave me a ride there. I guess it just goes to show how much our wives love us and miss us when we're gone.

Well yesterday looked like it was gonna be an all day soaker but on the drive home from work the rain stopped. I checked out weather.com and saw an opportunity to get in a ride so I went for it. The 3hr. tempo was a last minute call, I figured I've been pretty lame lately...time to bust a move. I was really into this ride and was able to stay focused to keep it in tempo pace. The sun was out by the time I got to Burnt Mills, good thing I didn't do some 1hr. cruise around ride...I would have been pissed at myself later.

I need to work on tempo pace and distance, my endurance is not where it should be for Bearscat. I am going to just throw some shit together and hope for the best. I like the proximity of the H2H races this year, they seem to be closer together but I have been neglecting longer training rides to prep for H2H race distances. Screw it dude lets go antiquing.
Tonight
I drove Jamie to soccer practice in Morristown then shot over to Patriots Path on my MTB for a recover pace ride. About 20 minutes in my chain explodes, I have no tools and Jamie has to picked up in 40 minutes...yikes. I fiddled with the chain for 10 minutes then hop on the bike and use it like a kick- and- go to get back to the lot where I left my car.
As I pass the trail head lot for Lewis Morris I see this dude loading his bike on his car and getting ready to head out. I scoot over and tell him my tail of woe and ask him if he would be willing to give me a ride back to my car. He says
sure no problem. I start talking cycling with the dude and come to find out his name is Diego, he races cat 2 SS and he knows Utah Joe...every Marty's guy know's Utah. Well thank God for Diego or I would have been a half hour late getting Jamie...no one wants to be that parent who shows up that late to pick up their kid.
