fast pacing for sure at the beggining and lots of time for recovery.just stick with the fast group at the start.

???went out hard at beginning felt miserable at the end???

Maybe it was the fact that you did not eat enough calories but I would guess that going out too fast at the start didn't help. I will plan on replenishing calories as well as proper pacing...hopefully😀

Chimney Rock with Woody

Saturday after work I met Woody at CR. This was the 2nd time since January I've had my Cannondale Flash(aluminum) out. The bottom bracket was stiff as hell when I started pedaling the cranks to lube the chain in my basement...oh well it should loosen up.

After about 30 minutes of riding the BB was kinda funny, like it was sticking occasionally...enough to produce slack in the chain when I wasn't spinning, which resulted in some ghost shifting. I was having too much fun chasing Woody to be too concerned with it. I must say that the geometry of my Cdale has me sitting more upright, which is comfortable but kinda leaves me feeling like I'm not in the cockpit. If I don't lean forward enough to weight the front tire I wash out the front wheel and lose the bike, which I did on occasion at CR. Woody is always solid on his 9er SS, if they had a race here he would clean up. Germy, Clapper, Kirt & Woody own CR.

The Search For Boulder-Dash

Jamie had a soccer game after work on Sunday in Morristown. The best part of the game was when one of our players got a red card for thowing the other player 3'. The boys are 15 and play more like men now, which also means they are a lot more agressive. The game was physical and our player was getting frustrated by his defenders hands on his back, so he lashed out. Even though we played down a man after that, the boys took it up a notch to hold out for a scoreless tie. Reminded me of when Tommy Lasorda or Billy Martin would get kicked out of a game, the players would wake the fuck up and take no shit.

Yes the search for boulder dash at Jungle. After the soccer game I went to jungle solo in search of boulder dash. I started up animal shoot, took some single track to Warthog, climbed Otter to Rhino. The whole time I was doing this the ghost shifting from yesterday had gotten worse, which made riding smoothly impossible. I muddled my way to the start of Boon when my der. hanger snapped...SUCK. Well actually it would have really sucked if it happened at the bottom of Boon. I was pretty much at the highest elevation in JH when this happened. Coasting my way down the roads I was able to get back to the car without much effort.

So my quest to find Boulder-dash continues, my BB and DH are in need of repair and I'll be fucked if I can't get another DH by the Wildcat Epic 100 on Saturday. I am going to be optimistic and say I'll get this shit straightened out by then. I'll let you know how I make out tomorrow, stay tuned.

Mtb Fixed

Went to HG and Luke straightened er out. Luckily they had a dh in stock, lubed bb, shortened chain a link, tuned up shifter and good to go, ya!

While I was there I talked to Cody about WC 100 this weekend. This thing still overwhelms me, the good thing about this race is I have no high hopes. Its a training race for me, riding strong is my only goal.

Random Thoughts

Yesterday I took J to soccer practice and did not ride. I fell asleep in the car during practice. This feels so good, its hard to believe how fast 1.5 hrs goes when your dead to the world.

Riding into work this morning I noticed myself listening to 101.1 WCBS(Utah's favorite radio station) and liking it.:hmmm: I guess I'm getting old, while I was cruising along here are some other observations I made about myself with regards to getting old.

When I go to the barber the guy trims my eyebrows and the hair growing out of my ears.

I goto bed earlier then my kids

They made the size of letters smaller in newspapers and there is always a glare which makes them hard to read.

Multi-tasking is not an option, getting drunk & layed doesn't happen anymore...its one or the other.

Also

Dunkin Donuts coffee sucks, its the budweiser of coffee. Its hard to believe how many DD's exhist, this just tells me people will drink any shit as long as they don't have to make it and its easy to get. My idea is to make a better coffee shop. Starbucks coffee is better but the food sucks, its too desert oriented. I'm thinking go with a Whole Foods concept. Good coffee, healthy smoothies and wraps that are convienent to eat on the way to work. It wouldn't work everywhere but the town's that had a Whole Foods market would be the place to start a business like this.

Lovin promotes wellness, be well.

i have an issue with smoothies. they always look so good, they sound delicious, but they never measure up to my expectations. i drink one at lunch every once in a while with a salad, but it never wows me.

its weird tho - every time i see one, i'm compelled to buy it, but i am never satisfied. i think i would learn at this point, but $5 says i'll be buying a smoothie with my salad lunch today.

any recommendations for pre-packaged smoothies?

Might be your best post ever.

Glad your MTB is straightened out. Test ride it at least once.

I'm with u on your feeling on the WC100. Rain might make it more...:hmmm:

DD does suck well except for the doughnuts.

I'm not as old as you & only listen to Octane & sports radio. When WCBS comes into the picture I might have to end my life.

Don't know of any good smoothy shoppes. My wife did get this kick ass blender recently, its called a Vitamix. This thing will turn wood into sawdust, its like a tree chipper. Anyway she makes some tasty concoctions, there usually pink and taste good...I don't ask whats in it, but I know there healthy.

its not the same without harry harrison and cousin brucie. its cbs fm 101.1 "lite" now....do they even play any of that 50s shit anymore? reminds me how while i LOVE car shows, I hate going bc for some reason they think we want to hear that shittys 50s music.

Totally disagree. DD coffee is worlds better than Starbucks. I've never enjoyed Starbucks. But McDonalds coffee is better than both.

No more 50's music, most of those people died off or don't know how to work a radio at this point. Its strictly 60's, 70's and 80's.
I'm not sure what's going to happen to 101.1 in 2040...is there a music catalog big enough from the 2000's worth listening too? I won't know how to work a radio by then so who cares.

Carson, do u drink bud or coors lite?

Just race aid station to aid station for as long as you can and don't think of the race as a whole. When it rains it only sucks for the first hour...and every hour after that. Plan ahead to be warm during the rain and you won't even notice it after a bit. Oh yea..don't forget to enjoy the ride too 🙂

Glad you're back writing my man. I thought of you Sunday (no homo) as I rode through Westfield and stopped for a peek at the festivities downtown.

ps Dunkin Donuts is the worst coffee I ever had. I go to Starbucks for my burnt espresso, but agree that if I want coffee (not espresso), McD's is where it's at. (I'll pm you my address Spence 😉)

pps nice legs Iggy 😀

I enjoy the clientele at Starbucks more than at DD or McD. But yea I can't drink SB espresso unless its got some foam or water in it. Short cappuccino is tolerable.
