Is a gravel bike slowly reverting back to a mountain bike?

Racing and riding are 2 different things, I would think tire size is set by the size of the gravel. Big gravel would requires bigger tires, cinder track you could have smaller tires.

Exactly, for a race like SBT Gravel which is smoother gravel and doesn't have any single track, I think the majority of elite racers run something smaller than a 45mm tire. Again, the terrain will dictate the tire choice / efficient equipment the riders will use.

i was referring to the helmet part, i figure if we want kids to wear them we also have to wear them all the time
I see this all the time and drives me nuts. "Hey kids don't forget to wear your helmets but don't worry about me I'm good". Friend of mine wanted to try bike riding and was all set to go without a helmet. I told him I would absolutely not ride with him unless he had a helmet, and there's no better way to broadcast to everyone that you have absolutely no clue what you're doing than by riding with no helmet.

yup i see it in my neighborhood all the time and it pisses me off, the parents make their kids wear one but then dont have one on themselves, lead by example, if you wear one they wont even question it. (not sure how to tell the parents they are being dumbasses without pissing off my wife)

I'm just gonna say nah on 8mph D&R ride but appreciate the feedback

im guessing you dont care about or need your brain intact. . . . . (im also hoping you dont make your kids wear one, they are (presumably) riding slower than 8mph in perceptibly 'safe' and easy locations)

Its not that deep. Its a good thing @THATmanMANNY is an adult snd can decide what to do with his own melon.

I wear my helmet on 95% of rides but I'm not out here to shame random people into wearing them. Do what you want with your head. Thousands of people ride without them in Amsterdam and aren't getting record brain damage rates.
