Lime's Disease AGAIN !!!!! Damn

AAAUUUUUUGGGGH! I feel like Charlie Brown when Lucy pulls the football away,.....lying on my back in disguised.

I found not one, but 2 bullseyes on my left side on Saturday. "Maybe they could be from something else,.." I thought trying not to believe what I'm seeing. Today I'm tired from the colonscopy I had yesterday,...."resoved diverticulosis," the doctor's discharge notice said.

But wait,...why do I still feel so bad? Surly this constant low grade fever, abdominal pain, leg & arm numbness, larthgy is from my diverticulosis attack on April 1st,...no joke. That was the night I threw up from 8pm to 2am. Soaked my clothes and sheets from a fever that was inferno hot, but left me cold to the bone. My muscle soreness was just rewards from my gym routine,..right? As I stood looking in the mirror, I realized that a "Bullseye" really is the center of something.

So I went to the clinic and waited. "Didn't you learn from the last time?" the doctor said. Of course,..deet, shower, inspection,....but I'm a mountain biker and I love to play in the woods. I do all the procautions. How do I do all this and still avoid something I can't see?

Here's the KICKER!

"You can't,...said the doctor. I never go into the woods and I got Lime's disease just before I was to go into med school. I was so shot from the symptoms I had to wait a year."

"How did you get it then," I asked. "The white footed field mice in my house, they are also carriers." he replied.

I'm sitting there devistated...........if you really know me, you know I love gardening as much as I love biking. For the past 3 months, I've been gardening, cleaning the shed, the wood pile, the old flower pots, buckets, etc. Under everything are mouse nests. I let the wild cat stay in the yard in hopes they will catch the mice. I had no idea. I didn't put Deet on when I was in my own yard! Heck, I put my cycling clothes out on the laundry line to dry..........did I think to inspect my clean clothes for ticks?

The only good thing about this whole this is 1) I have the answer to my misery 2) Stop N Shop offers free antibodics til July 11th and 3) the pharmacist exchanged my capsule formula to tablet formula doxycline. (tablet is easier on GI tracts and with my record,..I need it.)

Oh,...ho hummmm

Sorry to hear that. I just got done with a 3 week precautionary antibiotic treatment because of a tic bite. Hope you feel better!!

Oh Jess,
I am so sorry that you are not feeling well. Chris had Lyme's a few years ago too. Luckily we caught it really early on. The dox should clear it right up.

We live in the woods and we dress for warfare when we go outside.

Feel better.

Helps with the GI tract

Jess,

I can't count how many times the Dr's have put me on doxycline for tick bites. For a long time it killed my stomach. My sister in law recommended I try a probiotic Primadophilus. You can get it in a good supermarket. It's refrigerated so you have to look around. A half hour after I took the stuff my stomach was back to normal.

Feel Better

As someone who has been hit 3 times with Lyme,.....it sucks bad, but soon you will be back in the saddle, and all will be good with the world again. feel better soon Jess.

Thanks everyone

I do appreciate your well wishes. I did go to the health food store for the probotics. I do hope it helps. I am pretty surprised that so many of us have had lymes disease more than once. I guess we can survive and still ride. I will see ya'll at Tuesday's 501 ride. Again, thanks.

Feel better soon Jess. I'm a two time Lyme survivor too. It's the risk we take for playing in the woods, I guess. Good thing you found it early.

Jess,

I don't know you but do feel better... This whole Lyme Disease Tick thing is making me scared to even go out in the woods now... 🙁

Chris

Yikes, Jess.
Sorry you're sick but glad you found it before it got worse.

You're right, you can pick up a tick in your own back yard as easily as in the woods so there's no sense canceling plans for fun.

get well soon jess, and if you ever get fed up with ticks, move to alaska. we don't allow those filthy creatures in this state. :getsome:
