Mahlon Dickerson Reservation Conditions

That Beaver dam area is a mess. I stopped riding from Blue Heron until if drys up some. A bridge there or some rocks laid out over the dam would be nice.

Awesome today. Closest I've had to hero dirt around here! Perfect day.
Didn't hit the Tiger Blood side so can't comment there.

nice ride today

went in late afternoon from blue heron. did the wma trails and some adjoining sections of MDR. beaver dam is drying out, muddy but passable on the pond/swamp side (middle looked like a bottomless pit).

couple of cool things. I was the closest I have ever been to an owl. Big old Barn Owl took off and swooped right in front of me, about 15 feet in front and it dipped down to about 10 feet and then perched in a tree. very, very cool - it is amazing how quiet they are.

Had a nice chat with a MTBNJ celebrity all decked out in the orange/blue.

can you guess who? first name "U" last name "tah"

nice to meet you and hope you had a nice ride!

Nice meeting you finally. Always good to put another face to a screen name!

As you mentioned, conditions were good. I ended up heading through Anthrothers after I saw you, then cascade, wall, stone gate, etc. Everything was dry for the most part, puddles on the fire roads, usually stuff. Nothing too bad.

Did you hit the trail going around Saffin's Pond? 😉

Put 26 miles on my bike in Mahlon fri\sat. conditions are really good. Yellow heading over to Stone Gate has a tree across the trail now. too large for a hand saw.

MDR was mint today. Everything nice and dry, but not dusty. Rocky sections had gobs of traction. It was like early fall there....some leaves turning yellow, red, and a fair amount were already on the trails.

Ran into a couple that just moved here from Australia, riding a sweet set of Yeti's. Gave them a bunch of tips on where to ride in the area. Pointed them to MTBNJ.com and JORBA.org and suggested they join the party.

I'm going to hit mahlon tomorrow, would anyone happen to have a GPS file with Tiger blood in the loop? Thanks in advance

Mahlon 1st time this Sunday around noon. No Garmin just bringing trail map. Easy to get around? Most likely be some folks in lot to jump on with. Anyone around keep me posted. thanks Marc

Did a 16 mile loop at Mahlon today early. Saw a couple other riders but for the most part had the place to myself. Just the way I like it. Trail conditions are excellent.

Anyone ride MDR today? Trail conditions? One of the few parks that does not allow hunting. Since Tomorrow is the first day of shotgun and I have the day off, I Thought I would hit MDR if in good shape. Been a while since I rode there. Thanks.

Just some trees down on ghost, a lot of broken branches but the trails are fine. I cleared most of the downed saplings

Be careful if you cross over into the WMA, there's a bunch of guys heading in there this morn
