Mooch Madness ??

I rode this course with the intent to decide if this was possible. At this point I'm sad to say I don't think it is. I walked alot of the climbs (I bow to anyone who makes it up that first huge climb, that was just silly) and we cut the lap short because I was hurtin. But this is my first ride since purple cast off and I am still pretty much a beginner, so maybe next year. Fun fun park tho, I learned some rock garden lessons today. Was a good painful ride🙂

You should try cyclocross first then. 😀

thanks to mattybfat

big thank you to mattyb for helping me and 2 others find lumpy bumpy. even though we rode it the wrong way.for my first time there it is a rather fun park to ride.

Priding the Mooch Course

Camp is open to those wishing to preride Saturday's course. Please visit the main camp office on the Somers side of camp to fill out waiver. The waiver is on desk inside office foyer. Please direct any riders to the office if they have not filled out waiver. Riders should begin loop from Camp and not other trailhead such as Tranquility and Continental Drive. Please have fun and be safe!

Dusty, Mark Waters, and myself pre-rode the course this morning. Great mix of everything. The techy stuff is super fun. There's only 2 real climbs and they're in the first half of the loop so once they're out of the way it's fast and flowy. Gonna be a fun day for sure so if you're on the fence, don't be 😀

PS-Make a Fat Bike class, I'll be a shoe-in :getsome:

Thanks for the endorsement gents!

Food - will be available for the racers. So the $50 gets you a little more.

Beer - this is the same story as last year.

I am heading up there tonight and should be there around 5:30, I am not all that familiar with mooch and where to park and all, is the main office up camp allamuchy road? Where do I park and find the trail entrance

mooch parking

Office is well marked, just drive straight in off of 750 Waterloo Rd. and bear left at the split. I signed the waiver and parked in the "office lot". said hi to a couple pp walking around and was on my way. Great track, looking forward to Saturday.

Turn into entrance off of Waterloo Road (750 Waterloo rd.). Proceed straight, you will climb hill and level out with lake on your right. Pass two homes and bear left into parking lot. Stay to the right once in the parking lot. In the center in the left is a small building with a large flag pole in the lawn. Go into foyer for waiver. In the back right corner of the parking lot is a wash shed on the left. Pass the shed and continue straight up the dirt road until you see yellow course direction signs. First one is on the left just after the swamp. It climbs up a short hill parallel to the road.
Enjoy!

I just wanna say, if you decide to pre-ride after work, bring lights. I got caught in the dark towards the end and if it wasn't for my phone light, probably woulda had to bushwack my way out of there in total darkness.

Pre-rode the course today and I have to say its pretty fun. I was surprised to see all of the new single track and the downhill reroute.
It looks like the weather is going to be perfect. Definitely looking forward to it.
Is it just me or the over hanging dead tree at the bottom of cardiac bypass is starting hang a little too low? Hopefully it won't knock some of the tall riders off their bikes...

I prerode the course last night and it's not bad. The 1st mile or so in the camp sucks. *It seems like it was thrown together just to add easy mileage. It will be very interesting at the start of the race. A fast start is a must. *Hopefully you guys tape the snot out of it or your going to have a lot of people pulling a Norm and cutting the course. The climb up cardiac is way cool and totally rideable. That's *some serious old school 24 HOA course. Everything out of the BSA camp is killer though it shits the bed with the last mile. Why with all of the mileage in the park does the course end with 1.1 miles if pavement ? One thing for sure is no one will leave without a strong opinion of the course.*

Can't please them all🙄 yes that climb up cardiac is straight from the Sarha Frost days. I agree with pavement section but kinda have my hands tied here. Hopefully next year will have some new stuff on that south end on the ridge to rid the pavement finish. I think we should also try for a 2 lap of 20+ for next year also.
