Smokey & the Bandit Extended Online Race

I thought it was .95*FTP. Been a while so I'm rusty.

Push vs. Pull. Pull works better but kills you deader. Think longer term. YMMV.

Friday
Was out late at an event with my wife so was up alittle later than normal. Look outside, snow on grass, my road is clear. Slow to get ready and head out for an hour. Snowing pretty hard. 2 miles in stand up to pedal to cross 31, rear wheel slips out. Sit back down resign to smooth cadence day. Road conditions deteriorate quickly. Fenders fill with slush. Speeds are slow, turns are slower. Wheel slips more on one little section of steepness. Tailwind on way home helps with snow in the eyes. Make it home safely.

throwing out another update. matty you're officially moved - still a solid standing with the miles stripped out!

i'll keep updating throughout the day. be safe out there. i saw 5 accidents on my way into work today. the roads in somerset were officially in bad cop status. it got better as i drove further west.

Thanks Dave, sadly i was shut down today though very much prepared with a bike swap this am. May need to sneak an hour early tomorrow. Bring on another huge Sunday!

3hrs 52 min / 28.64 miles
8 points + for snow, sleet and rain

Same park as yesterday, but add 2-4 inches of snow, wind (that was pushing snow, sleet, ice and rain sideways) and a Fat Bike. I did not have any mechanical issues with my Fat Bike this time.😀 It does make a slow rider (like me) even slower, but is lots of fun. Plus it is on the heavy side (only slightly lighter than my downhill bike).
The snow is really wet and heavy and was falling from the trees and going down my back. I came home soaking wet.🙄

No bad cop rule today, Fat Bike does not slide in the slush that is covering the roads today.😉

Hey I thought road rides in the snow = bad cop = 0 pts. Arrest the mayor clarkenstein!

Nah, we discussed it earlier. If it's snowing but above 32, then it counts as a rain ride. Dave & I talked about it a bit and we don't want to go Draconian on it. We figure that the snowy road rule is only going to apply when it gets really bad.

I did actually ride my mountain bike, not my road bike. I was worried about that 13 mph thing but it wasn't an issue.

Eh ok. Thought I had an excuse to not ride today...

yeah i'd have bad copped kev too, it was crappy but not that bad. up by in somerset in the morning it was crappy.

Bad cop me an norm loses his streak too. Always a way around the rules. Could be argued that these guys are tearing up the trails also since it isn't frozen.

exactly. i was wondering what the trails are like. snow can sometimes insulate. when i drove down here this morning i was thinking you'd be riding in it. it wasn't great but not bad cop in my book. based on what you said it did sound like i thought it would be - a little sketchy at times but moving.

If you ride the MTB on the road does the MPH still count? If it does, I'm gonna have to haul ass home!!

Central Jersey trails were well insulated by 2-4 inches of snow. Fat Bikes are very trail friendly with their big tires.😀

When all of this melts trails will be too wet to ride for a couple of days.
