Sourlands Mountain Preserve Conditions

i would love to hear a good report, but i dont think itll be nice. everyone says something about the lower trails vs upper trails, anyone?

the upper trails always dry out better than the lower trails (other than crossing the pipeline). BUTT the lower trails have been getting better lately especially with the new armoring (thanks jeff!).

it just stopped raining this morning, so i would at least give it the night to firm up everywhere.

looking to head out there tomorrow..(Sat)...late moring or so...

need to ride some good trail... only been there in the bad winter of '10... didn't really see anything..

post up conditions if you could... hope it doesn't really pour til night time..

thanks!

cheers!

Conditions should be great. I was out there today. Tomorrow there is a special event planned. Parking may be a pain. Otherwise you should be golden.

cheers!
Conditions should be perfect.

Tonight the rocks were dry and the dirt was tacky. A few blowdowns from the storm the other day but nothing requiring a chainsaw. I cleared a lot by hand. Checked out the flagged reroute and it looks sweet. It's gonna add some mileage and fun to the loop. I'm gonna try to make it out saturday.

Was great tonight ... no water to speak of on the left side of the pipeline. Both lower trails and uppers were nice. Rocks still a little damp, but not slick. Got out later than I'd hoped, so inadvertently turned into my first night ride, but MagicShine worked like a charm.

Get out tomorrow before the rain ...

Rain! *%^$

How bad is/was the rain? Should I even bother trying to ride tomorrow afternoon or make it an early happy hour instead? 😀

Barely wet under the trees this am. Should be good. If not baseball n beer at my place

anyone know if it rained much in this area? We got a decent amount of rain overnight by six mile.

i'm a few miles north/west of sourland, and it rained, but still wasn't wet under the trees this am - sun came out for an hour or so, back in now. looks like a couple hours of sun coming soon.

goingto give it a shot.

we got a good amount of rain in the central area. i bet the lower trails aren't too hot. i checked out the 6 hour past radar early this morning and it looks like its gonna be wet.

the trail is the area where the leaves are flat...or stuffed between the rocks. other than that, is was dry enough to have some fun. until bon jovi came on and messed up my mojo....

The incredible disappearing trail. One of the clearest sections was the new section from 7 - 8 just opened. otherwise the leaves are ridiculous - tho maybe Sandy will blow/wash them away (hopefully)

Post Sandy update...

All the trails on the left side of the pipeline are clear with the exception of the trail between posts 5&6.

We still have work to do on the right side of the pipeline. The next organized TM date is Dec 8th in case you are wondering. Between now and then, County personnel with be hitting the remaining trails with the chain saw, although the small size of the Park staff and the large number of properties they are responsible for will mean that it won't happen as quickly as we would all like. Just wanted to let everyone know that we haven't forgotten about the remaining trails so please be patient.

Do you think they'll have the park in shape by spring? I'm hoping to hook up with you for a video shoot mid spring.
