I more than anybody wanted to make it happen again this year but the truths are:
1) the team busted ass to organize a bunch of great races this year already including 4 short tracks races amidst unthinkable atmospheric conditions, a brand new H2h XC race on virtually no notice, and of course that little 45 mile race up in Africa on Sunday. The team needs a well deserved break.
2) I think we may have lost money on CXMeur last year. The county charges so much for that place that you need ~300 racers to make it worthwhile. Compared to the MAC and New England UCI races, NJBA races, like it or not, are the Almond Joy left at the bottom of the Halloween candy bowl at the end of the night for a lot of people. You eat them because there aren't any Kit Kat's left, not because you really crave Almond Joy. You simply don't get more than 200 people at NJBA races after mid-October.
3) being the Almond Joy also means that you have to schedule surf to fit yourself in to the tiny gaps between UCI races, big MAC races and Verge/New England races. With all the changes to scheduling this year (Charm moving back, HPCX and Whirlybird moving around, etc...) it's been even harder to find a weekend where we thought we could get support from the local community and secure the venue.
4)its a metric poop ton of work to make these events happen and we aren't going to do a race if it's not done right. We love grassroots bike racing and it is becoming increasingly difficult with all of the fees and requirements of USAC to host a race and without charging crazy registration fees.
I'm really bummed because have been scheming improvements to the already good course layout since the day after the race last year. We already have a lot of the pieces in place to make it happen but sadly there are a few critical missing ones.
