The Indoor Cyclist's support thread

@iman29 Ian you can only make custom workouts on certain devices for Zwift...once made they can be used anywhere because they are in your account. For example, I do all of my zwift rides off of an iPad mini (thing is like 11 years old). For some reason, it is baller for running my workouts mirrored on Apple TV (but my MacBook Pro stinks at running the rides). But the iPad mini is not compatible for creating custom workouts, so I create them on my laptop in the app, and ride them from my iPad.

Does that make sense? May be that your computer not compatible to build the workouts ?
Right I got it.

I used to do all my Zwift off aN old windows laptop, So based off that link and some others you could just copy the workout file into a folder and then it shows up under custom. I would never spend time creating my own because I really have no idea on creating my own and there’s so many good ones already published.

I was using that “what’s on zwift” web site way before custom workouts were even a thing they let you do on zwift.

Good to know tho I can use my laptop to find some more and then they will show up on my ATV.

It's good for when you like a workout, but maybe the rest intervals are a little long and you want to shorten them or instead of five intervals you want six. Only takes a minute on a PC. Even better, you can add your own text messages for motivation!

Just got notified that Zwift is jumping to $19.99/month. MyWhoosh here I come. Anyone else using it? Tips?
yup came to post the same about the price increase. Zwift is getting the usual social media crap about it. no experience in MyWhoosh here tho.

While I am curious about some of the other platforms like this one, Rouvy, etc.. and I dont like any price increases more than the next person, this is effectively my "gym" membership so for $20 a month I guess I will live with it.

DCRainmaker has an older review, but I found this writeup on Bikeradar thats more recent.

Yearly is $199. Not sure what it used to be, but it seems like a lot. That said, what else am I going to do in the winter?

MyWhoosh is free (for now), I'm going to give it a shot.
I used MyWhoosh a handful of times this past fall. Wasn’t bad. They didn’t have an Apple TV version so I ran it on the IPhone and cast it to the TV. Works well enough but was a crazy drain on the battery. I know that they were working on an AppleTV version. If it’s out now, I would give it another shot.

I was talking to someone about this the other day actually.. Saying how they don't like Zwift because it feels like The Sims while Rouvy seems more realist... I guess it's on personal preference.

Loaded up MyWhoosh last night on the trainer computer. Everything connected fine and the graphics and interface seem similar to Zwift. Didn't do any rides yet, but seems pretty solid for a free app. My guess is that with the surge of people jumping from Zwift, it won't be long before they start to charge.😁

They have bigger aspirations than simply monetizing. The already secured UCI e-racing …. Their pockets are bottomless… but what they don’t have is consistent usage; which is paramount as this to my eye, the world’s most expensive commercial for the Emirates.

what's interesting this time around is that is seems Zwift is moderating/deleting a lot of social media posts about the topic. I belong to one of the main FB Zwift group and there's more posts about posts getting deleted/comments removed than anything else. The "Zwift Riders" group actually has staff from the company in there as Admins, and includes Eric Min the CEO.

It seems Zwift would like to control the volume of posts complaining about the price increase but it doesnt seem to be helping them from a PR standpoint. Then again all the keyboard warriors come out of the wood work just to ensure they get a chance to comment.

I loaded Rouvy onto my AppleTV a few months back but never tried it. If MyWhoosh comes up with an ATV version I would check out a free trial i guess. maybe.

It’s 5 bucks and the first increase in a long time. I’m not saying I like it, but they’ve done less increases than most other online subscriptions.

The increase is the first for the platform since 2017 (?) IIRC, and while it is up to 19.99 a month I still see value in the product for what I use it for and will continue to use it. I imaging across the Zwift world there is plenty of outrage over the increase of a few dollars month by many people who spend $15 dollars a day on coffee lol...Not that that's a bad thing necessarily, but you will spend your money on things that make you happy and you see value. For me, I still enjoy the platform and my experience on it, and understand that like everything else currently the cost of "life" keeps going up.

I also tried Rolla one (another free app)
On the AppleTV (uses a phone app to manage things). Pretty sure it was DC Rainmaker who brought attention to it at one of those cycling tech expos. Wasn’t bad, definitely not as polished as Zwift but light yeas ahead of where Zwift was at this stage of their development.

agreed!

Which possibly hurt them. If they did $1 a month every 18 months or so people may not be as shocked.

Like every other price increase like this, some people will bitch and moan, some will cancel, most will probably pay up.

The thing is, I don't use it much (especially not in spring/summer) and my wife uses it but not really as a trainer. At $14 I was willing to keep it so that she could use it, but the increase just pushes it over the limit for me, especially since there are cheaper/free options.

Sort of like how the Saudi's pay hundreds of millions to aging soccer stars. Make zero business sense, but that's not what they care about.
