Just got a pair of nobby nics For my ibis, 2.8 in rear and 3.0 in front and the 2.8 is substantially smaller in OD, almost 5/8". So if you are thinking of trying a conversion then I would suggest these as a safe option

First off, congrats!!!!! The bike looks beautiful! Matching pedals will look fantastic with those hubs. Can't wait to hear your impression of her after some dirt time.

Now for some ball busting. Unless my ancient eyes deceive me, you've got like 35mm of spacers under the stem on that bad boy. @jdog, did you fit him before or after rigamortis set in. 😀

Dan my spearfish is set up the same way. Fit feels very similar, at least riding around the parking lot. Bars are significantly wider tho.

Cool. Just curious, did you go with a slightly shorter stem to offset the wider bars? New bikes are sooooo much fun. 🙂

Again, very similar to the spearfish. Sure it will require a few tweaks once I start riding - more suspension variables + the bigger tires pressure - can't wait to play with it

Can't foot the bill for another wheelset but interesting to know! Converts say LTC is okay with 27.5+ and 2.8 tires

I've been out of the loop. Can anyone explain this "BOOST" business? Is it hoop size term? Stay width term? Hub size term?

Correct. Boost hubs uses a 148x12 through-axle, 6mm wider than a traditional rear mountain hub (135 QR / 142 thru). The extra width is split between left and right, so the chainline moves 3mm outboard. This affords a little more clearance for wide tires and widens the spoke flanges for a stronger wheel.
