This Thread Blows - C19 and beyond

I can’t and didn’t even listen to the one with Elon Musk.

But the damn best one I’ve listened to is the one with Jewel. Wow what an amazing story and woman.

PS, I’m not for mandates either. Choice and information is critical. I’ll definitely be challenging my employer about the booster now that I had covid .

Honestly sick of people who aren’t wearing masks in enclosed places such as stores. They do work.

I am tired of it and people like to ignore the fact that the whole population doesn't have the choice to get vaccinated yet and a large subset isn't able to mask up(infants).

If people don't want to wear masks inside a place where everyone had the choice to get vaccinated that's fine that's on you, but if it's in a shared place with people who can't be vaccinated.

Maybe there should be some accommodating. Replace the senior hour with the anti mask or anti vax hour. The only stipulation being staff has full discretion if they want to serve this group during that time and people who want to mask up can still shop if they choose to.

Btw was the polio vaccine mandatory?

Considering how many people have now had Covid, why do you assume that those that aren't wearing masks hadn't already had the disease and now are immune and not transmitting?

I'll wear a masks in stores, but I don't bother with restaurants anymore. I'm not participating in the charade of walking in with a mask and then taking it off 15 feet later.

And serious question, are any infants getting sick? I thought that was a near impossibility unless they had some weird other major issue.

not sure about this, i know several people in the last month who just got Covid for the second time.

Agreed, 100%. It seems like these arbitrary rules make people who are on the fence about getting a shot, say “Fuck It“. It’s ridiculous that you would need to wear it to walk inside, but then can take it off for the next hour or 2 eating and drinking. However, to A Plotted Plant’s point, he can choose not to go to the restaurant/bar, he kind of needs to go to the grocery store.

I have no idea, but I’d rather not find out about my kids heart defect because he got Covid and wound up in the ICU.

I don't worry about stores either - never did. I don't go to any that are crowded and you just don't get infected walking by a person for a second. Restaurants/bars have always been a joke.

I recently went in for a haircut with my son, we both went unmasked b/c To me it seems futile. The guy waiting next to us got up and left looking visibly annoyed. I felt bad, I cost the place a haircut while also pissing off the other guy. So now I wear one, not to the point of ridiculousness, but in shared spaces where the norm seems to be wear one, I do. I don’t wear one for myself, but to make some people around me feel more comfortable.

Both times I went to a barbershop in the past year, not a single person had a mask on. The kids only barber shop I go to requires them, except when the kid is getting a haircut.

That's kind of my thought on the grocery store, everyone has to go including the workers, where as a restaurant everyone is choosing to be there and also not wearing a mask. Granted, I just went to a grocery store and didn't wear a mask...

Not conspiracy theory time, but the argument with small kids against the vaccines is the danger to kids is small for heart issues as the disease doesn't typically pass into the blood, it's in airways. Vaccine is a blood infection. Pretty sure it was a study out of the UK recently where the crossover point point of reduction of risk of myocarditis for men was age 40.

The place I get my haircut is mask mandatory which I kind of think it should be. Everyone there has to sit and wait next to each other on a bench, the employees are standing 6 inches from your face, etc. I went two weeks ago and they did the whole thing of cutting around my mask, carefully lifting each side off to get to the hairs underneath, etc etc.

Then they took off the mask to shave my beard...

I was in a store yesterday and a mother with her child were walking the aisles. The kid was definitely sick with something. Idc what you are sick with. If you are out in public coughing and looking like a strawberry, you better wear a mask.
