what variant we have.

what isn’t disclosed to us testers is what variant we have. We just assume we have Omni. But C19 fucked me up for 3 days. 102 fevers and body in shock trembling. I’m like 90% now. It wasn’t mild. I’ve heard of one death and two not doing too good…
Be careful and speedy recovery!
You think a hospital would be completely full with only covid patients??
Right before christmas she worked a shift in which she has 17 coworkers out....all of her Peds Er rooms were full and she had about 30 peds patients in the waiting room....this is just the PEDS er, the regular ER was well over 100.....Keeping our institutions staffed is becoming difficult. 25-30% out, but most will be back very soon.
Yes, it is absolutely insane at the ER's. Most local urgent care centers are shut down just to place staff elsewhere at this point and all elective surgery is shut down. Based on the information that I was provided, I didn't agree with the information that you previously posted the other day about it not effecting kids. It certainly is and that is disheartening as a father of 2 young children and no option to vaccinate. So something else my wife just told me that I didnt know. There are enough kids now at the hospital that they made a Peds covid floor/section. So apparently enough kids are getting sick enough to be admitted....although she did say they are not all there bc of covid....as in some have pneumonia, but also tested positive, etc

Last peak, she was having days at the ER where they had only 15 patients TOTAL for 12 hours.
So its batshit crazy at the hospital if you need to go to the ER, bring a book and a few meals.

On a separate note, I feel like I have to state a couple of things based on some posts I've read in order to get things off my mind. I am apprehensive with the statements that omnicron is more mild than the other strains. We haven't felt the brunt of how this strain is affecting the older and most vulnerable populations yet. Delta was a whole other beast, whose mutations made it efficient at infecting the lungs. This strain rapidly multiplies in human bronchi and does so roughly 70% faster than delta, but it is 10x less efficient at infecting the lungs. Any precautionary measures that can be done to reduce viral load to prevent hospitalization should be taken. Masks, boosters, etc. I personally am on board with the argument that our higher immunity has reduced the severity (vaccinations, previous exposures, etc), but the key is that Omnicron is so infectious that just the sheer number of cases are overwhelming our healthcare systems. We also don't have monoclonal antibody treatments readily available yet for the Omnicron strain, which was standard of care in early infection treatment for Delta and were effective. Current emergency FDA authorizations will limit how people will be treated and I hope that physicians/pharmacies are keeping up with current FDA allowances for certain drugs and the timing of giving those drugs to provide maximum benefit. This is especially important in small rural settings. We are relying on drugs like Molnupiravir, paxlovid, or Remdesivir that have had somewhat lackluster results on reducing viral load, have an unclear risk/benefit ratio based on current data, and may actually increase the rate in which novel viruses evolve. There currently is no evidence of mutagenesis, but it was a major concern raised upon review of these agents.
I hope everyone remains as safe as possible and, furthermore, as a population, that we are no longer covid naive and have more robust immunity for future strains.
Thanks for sharing.I'm not saying he's right, but I haven't seen anything that actually refutes his actual points. Like the Atlantic article it's focused on personal attacks not his talking points.
Which does make me suspect some of what he says is true. He does come off as clean-cut and well spoken. He's also someone who has taken the the Vaccine so not a typical anti-vaxxer. So my original thought was he could be saying some truths, or some half-truths but so far haven't seen anything actually taking down what he's saying point by point.

Thanks for sharing.
I listened to the whole thing as I’m home with a positive covid test
I have taken the vaccine and I’m far from an anti-vaxcer with the exception that I’m fairly against 100% forced vaccination.
Like it or not, the JRE is likely the #1 source of information for a very large number of people in this country and others at this point
This was taken off YouTube as Spotify owns this content and YouTube always takes down their solely owned content.
I’m curious if someone here who has a medical degree or training can break down some of this conversation.
I found much of it to be well organized and not outrageous. Perhaps covid has softened my brian.
I of course also listened to Oliver stone who has an interesting take on the JFK assassination.

I read a transcript of the interview.
After reading it, I now think the corrupt politicians, corrupt bureaucrats, corrupt scientists, corrupt media and big business featured in the "Don't Look Up" movie are running the nation's covid response.
Not sure if I should interpret that as sarcasm or not. Do you have a link to the transcript? I'm curious, but definitely not listening to 3 hours of a Joe Rogan podcast.
This guy can be annoying, but I pretty much agree with what he says here. He talks about Malone a little bit and says he did a piece on another anti vaxx quack that pretty much discusses the stuff Malone brings up, aside from the groupthink stuff which he plans on making a video for. Thanks for sharing.

It's 43 pages long, not sure how much quicker it'll be for you to read it but here ya go.

It’s not the 3 hours… it’s the Rogan. With people saying they won't listen to a 3 hour Rogan podcast, I have to wonder, do you guys listen to your podcasts at normal speed?
Almost every podcast I listen to, unless it's an in depth technical podcast, is at 1.2x minimum but often 1.5. If it's some BS podcast I have in the background it could sometimes be 1.8x or 2.0x
Also Pocketcasts has a great feature where it removes dead silence, X time a the beginning of the podcast or Y time at the end, etc. It adds up.

I didn't listen to the Rogan podcast, and have zero desire to.
