This Thread Blows - C19 and beyond

For the ppl in the back (i.e.ME) ...this is a virus. It pretty much just needs to run its course and hospital visits are reserved for extreme cases of respiratory issues. Just try to keep the fever down, drunk fluids, avoid urrbody and see a doctor (not in that order)

I seem to be missing where it says how long it sticks around and if that varies on a person to person basis.
If I remember correctly, I believe it's 4-6 weeks.

Will Mayhem get cancelled? I’ll need to redo my whole training schedule.... dammit!!!

I joke, I joke. Not really though.

Work said to WFH for a minimum of 2 weeks, at that point they’ll reassess. School is also closed for 2 weeks with the same plan. So assuming my house stays healthy, I’ll be getting some outdoor rides in.

I was wondering the same.

I found this on some Harvard edu site

“If I get sick with COVID-19, how long until I will feel better?

It depends on how sick you get. Those with mild cases appear to recover within one to two weeks. With severe cases, recovery can take six weeks or more. According to the most recent estimates, about 1% of infected persons will succumb to the disease.

How long after I start to feel better will be it be safe for me to go back out in public again?

We don't know for certain. Based on research that has detected viral genetic material in patients several weeks after they've recovered from COVID-19, it is safest to assume that you may be contagious for weeks after you recover.“

This is the part I don't get. Was there some waiting list to get the virus and Italy was ahead of the US in the line by two weeks? I don't think so.

Why so many more cases during the same period of time in a population that is about 7 times smaller than the US assuming potential for contagion started at the same time? Maybe the ban on travellers from China turned out to be effective somehow.

The number of people tested explanation works to a point, you can't hide the dead bodies, especially in the US where everybody has a phone and is willing to use it to show the government abusing its power.

they had a super-spreader - early on. so to answer your question, yes there is a waiting period until someone brings it "in". that part of the math is discrete. there was no reason beyond chance that it was italy and iran early.

it really doesn't have anything to do with the size of the population until it starts running out of people to infect.

I'm just guessing🙂

What school are your kids in? Middle School?

You were right. After I asked that question I did some digging. Actually the reason I asked you for a source is that I have been trying to get information about the status of school all day. I just got the email from our district. Virtual learning will commence Monday and continue for at least a week.

Well I survived my trip to the panicked mass hysteria of people raiding the stores and I just don’t get it. Well thanks to the media and the equal amounts of misinformation posted online I guess it’s just a natural reaction to feel like you took action. But this is worse than ANY weather related event I have ever seen.

Got the dog food. Picked up dinner at the pizzeria which is mobbed because of Lent anyway. Got the dog food. Forgot the printer paper anyway. ??‍♂️

This must look like everyone else’s stores too. Oh the insanity.
Now I will go burn my clothes and take a 30 minute shower.

I guess it’s time to learn to make your own.
