Ive been out twice this year...I am insanely jealous of what has been happening out west. I'll be out in CO in March but my luck the weather will change and well get slammed here.
That’s exactly what happened to me a few years ago in March. Went to Utah to ride at Solitude, Brighton, Powder Mtn, and Snowbird. Temps in the 50’s during the day and all that slush iced up over night. You had a 1 hour window around 11 AM when snow was just right. Otherwise sucked. And salt in the wound that New England was getting pounded at the same time. Just my luck.

isn't there a way to drop into the neighboring canyon?
Ending up at the base of one of the other lodges, then take a bus back to PC ??
It was a guided tour for experts (i think) - kindofa out-of-bounds, but monitored experience.

Long time ago.
That's the Utah Interconnect

Seems like you'd be way better off going snowcat skiing. The juice doesn't look like its worth the squeeze.

eh, I mean it looks interesting, but for the most part it just looks like you are trying to connect ski areas...not really ski back country...couple spots. I dont know, I have been skiing snowbird and alta since 1987, still plenty of lines I havent found yet. 🙂

Breckenridge was pretty good today
Your photo brought back some good memories so I went in the archives...if you're still there and the gate is open make the hike across the ridge. It is a very fun line and should be filled in with all the snow

I know exactly what possessed you, shitty conditions in the north east!
Yup that was pretty much the seller. I’m between jobs right now and could’ve stayed local and just ridden Vermont mountains but this is the worst year for conditions on the east that I can remember. Meanwhile there’s even more snow forecast for the west early next week…

I had a full day at A-Basin today. I’m normally a skier, but I’ve had issues with my boots on this trip, so I’ve stuck to the snowboard. I took up snowboarding during the winter of 2021, when all I could ride was mountain creek because of the pandemic, and I wanted to challenge myself with something new. 2 years later and I’m riding double black diamonds in Colorado!

Things just keep getting worse on the east coast and I can now say worst January ever. I am getting some vicarious enjoyment watching Mammoth get slammed repeatedly. They’ve already surpassed last years snowfall total. Meanwhile, I’d be happy with some frozen dirt to ride bikes on.

We did Killington today. The good news is that it wasn't really crowded at all.

I would show you a picture but this will suffice.
