Mooch Madness ??

I know nothing about this place, My girl and I did find the route last night last 3-4 miles did in the dark. ( did bring my lights so that was helpful) Anyway the cardiac your talking about, is it the crazy climb that just keeps going and after get to the top then you start to ride some rocks/boulders? I think the course is great, I am sure glad I picked up a full suspension bike 2 weeks ago instead of using my SS for everything. I will just be happy to finish the race that is my goal.

Ez-E that was me that you saw in the lot prior to the ride. Sorry if I was eyeing your car, I was wondering if it was someone I knew. When I got back it was pitch dark and your car was still there, so I was hoping that you guys had brung lights.

I believe the answer to your question is yes. There's at least 2 parts I'll likely have to walk going up that climb, but I think the top guys can clear it.

Yes that is THE original Cardiac hill climb. We originally named it "Angina Hill" though that quickly became "Vagina Hill" and Sarah Frost wasn't digging that, so we came up "Cardiac". The new(er) Cardiac is called Cardiac Bypass. Get it ?
I think I saw you and your GF on the climb last night, I was on a HT superfly wearing a Bulldogs jersey. She looked thrilled. :drooling:
Good luck Saturday

I prerode the course last night and it's not bad. The 1st mile or so in the camp sucks. *It seems like it was thrown together just to add easy mileage. It will be very interesting at the start of the race. A fast start is a must. *Hopefully you guys tape the snot out of it or your going to have a lot of people pulling a Norm and cutting the course. The climb up cardiac is way cool and totally rideable. That's *some serious old school 24 HOA course. Everything out of the BSA camp is killer though it shits the bed with the last mile. Why with all of the mileage in the park does the course end with 1.1 miles if pavement ? One thing for sure is no one will leave without a strong opinion of the course.*

Appreciate the feedback! (I mean, really)

You should come help us design the course next year. We can go long on this one. Big monster loop. Awesome mousetrap. This is my official invitation to you. 🙂

You in?

The guy with the rigid fork? I couldn't tell if your were eying my car up or our bikes. haha I was hoping my car was still there when we got back. haha I did bring lights, and we stopped and went back a few times to try spots her and I didn't get the 1st time.

ryderX: yes that was her and I , she def wasn't happy frustated and tired already since she just worked a night shift in the ER , but she was a s trooper as always and finished the whole loop

Is that an invitation disguised as a mousetrap or a mousetrap disguised as an invitation ?
Going big in Allamuchy is only right. See you in '13. Maybe Glute can do a photo documentairy project on this historic linkage.

A trained ER professional is the ideal racing partner for Allamuchy. Good plan.

I rode the course yesterday and indeed it brought back memories of 24HOA. I'm a little burned out right now so riding up cardiac for the 3rd time in a few months was feeling old, but is certainly worth the trails that they lead to. After that the course flowed well and a bit of everything. It should be a big race for most!

Yup that was me with the rigid!

Indeed, get your reg on!

Due to Gordon's good points, we have:

1. A race
2. Cash payouts for open men/women
3. Prizes for the other classes
4. Our usual homemade medals
5. A flawless scoring system
6. Number plates that should last you this race
7. A meal after the race
8. Water as needed
9. Real bathrooms
10. Showers
11. Not no beer
12. Homebrew beer as prizes for *all* classes
13. A dragon

Currently 18 women - I need 2 more to hit my goal of 20.

Then I need 5 guys to reg for one of the non-team classes. Then we won't lose money I think. Hope.

Or not. But to the people who are registered, we're going to do our best to bring you a great race, and make it worth the $50. The not no beer isn't not going to be Firestone. Just not not sayin'.

PS. Beer and pets are forbidden at the BSA.

Do reg!

I too did a ride though said course yesterday. Call me crazy but for 1400 ft (or 1800 ft on some other peeps GPS) I felt like I was going downhill an aweful lot. The entire course is rideable for almost anyone (less the Cardiac climb - it's steep in a few spots and technical as well). After Cardiac it felt like bomber city. I had about 9.7 mph avg at a slightly sub endurance pace; so the fast guys will FLY on this course and evryone else will have a SL of fun.

All things considered:
1) Race in your backyard and sleep in own bed
2) Food (granted it's scout camp food - can't be worse than that place in State College)
3) Ride trails you may know and love
4) Ride trails that ARE fun as a can of worms on a fishing trip
5) Easy in - easy out access
6) Hot showers
7) Not Unionjack Ale in a keg
8) Cash money for open
9) Reasonable start times
10) A Dragon

Well worth $50 or $10 if you are from Venus

I am assuming that teams will be done relay format? or do they all go off at 9:00 and add their times together?

Brad and I were out there today, making sure the course is good to go.

I really enjoyed the course - even the climb up Cardiac...it definitely got my heart going.

It reminded me a lot of the Mooch course pre-Irene 😉

Looking forward to seeing peeps Saturday!

Relay format!

We got to 20 women!!! I <3 Robin & Allison!

Yay I win Robin! How ironic that *you* were the woman to put us up to 20?

Really? LOL - Allison registered us, so she's the reason I was #20 😀

As Norm said relay, but this is an idea I never thought about but could be considered for the future maybe. It would be like a combination of a 2 man track team and syncronized diving.

Bonus points awarded if teammates hold hands through the transition area each lap.

I just finished a lap, loved the course. The only other time I ever tried riding up cardiac was during the endurorama when it was wet...seemed impossible, but I made it tonight with it dry. Tough, but doable.
