Chimney Rock Conditions

Thanks to everyone involved in getting the bridge back in its place. We need to tie this thing off on something so we don't have to go far after the next big storm.

If someone brings out a cordless drill and puts a hole in the side of wood we can thread an eyelet into it and tie it off with a piece of rope to a tree.

you want it to stay in place? or just not drift away(ala iggy suggestion)?

perhaps something more interesting like some left over techo block steps lined up with the water flow?

probably take 6 of them with 6" gaps - easy to ride, wouldn't move. kinda like

Wouldn't move???
If those are not anchored in place how long do you think they will last. So how do you anchor them in water?

The wood plank was fine for years and it blended in with the trail, if we find a way to secure it , it will be fine...and even if it floats away again apparently we have the resources to retrieve it🙂

i wasn't suggesting those small blocks - think 4' long "steps" that weigh 250lbs and present a small front to the flowing water.
like ducks, small pebbles, and witches: wood floats!

The bottom of that creek is rock and paver blocks even being 250lbs will move.I was out there a few weeks ago hiking after a heavy rain and that creek was 2ft deep and the water was moving very fast.Iggy's idea is a good solution or even use braided cable and wrap it around a local tree.my .02 cents

just to answer your anchor question - drill a hole a foot deep, cement a rebar pin in, and drop them on.

well - there were some slick/mud spots - and a few slime spots.
gravity seemed turned up higher than usual in the area.

might get something in tomorrow morning b4 the hard rain.
(i think there is a chance that the rain will miss central nj.)
