That'd be awesome. Curious to see how he and Ritchie Porte work out. Phinney and van aevermat area gonna be a classics threat.
I predict Porte will be a dud. Just like Evans, he is prone to not just bad days, but disastrous ones. Just as Phinney was starting to spread his wings, he broke his leg so it will be nice to see what he can do next year.

Yeah, while he seems a bit more level-headed than Evans, he's still a bit fragile when he's the go-to-guy for GC. A hammer as a domestique, but that isn't what BMC need. SO good to see Phinney back. Remember when Tom Steels broke his leg at a rail crossing? Career ender. Or Joseba Beloki? Sometimes folks don't come back.

It is super windy here today, we have not seen any TV coverage because we were out hiking, but I would imagine that is will have an impact.

The Vuelta is bonkers.

Here's your sand section for the TTT. Not a individual TT. TEAM time trial. On sand. 50kph, head down, what could possibly go wrong?

Aaand here's your finish. It's an effing ramp. No worries that oxygen-depleted totally red-lined riders will fall off. They're pros!

We just got back from the stage 4 finish and podium presentations. We got a great space at the finish line about 90 mins before the predicted finish, and it was worth the wait. It was pretty cool to be there live. Tomorrow is the TT and we are planning on walking up Boreas Pass Road to see the riders flying down before they turn onto main street.

The race festival is way better than I was expecting. I came home with a huge bag of great swag. Cliff and NUUN products that are just hitting the shelves, tons of gear and Sierra Nevada beer garden. All 1 block from where we are staying.

Nibs DQ'ed from the Vuelta for hitching a ride in a car. At first I thought it was these little pulls riders take coming back from a crash when they are in the cars. But, yeah, this was much more than that.

That was my first thought too upon hearing it , but the video is so damning. I also love the fact that karma did Nibali in. He attacked when Froome had a mechanical in the tour and today everyone attacked after the crash when Nibali was caught up in it.

His Facebook page is 100% everyone else is doing it and I had a really shitty season and it was only 150 yards and and and... Unreal. Glad to have his sad, weird thrashings during Grand Tours off the radar for a bit.

I don't think this was karma and that attacking for the mechinal was way over played as he was out of contention and Froome was just looking down, not on the side of the road or something.

Yes, everyone does draft cars and use the sticky bottle technique at times, but this is an extreme case. It he was by himself at the back it is one thing but pulling up beside him at the front of a large group is just asking for it.

It is a shame as he is one of the better rider to watch and rides and isn't a slave to power meter like so many others. Aru was the designated leader and stinks he lost Nibs for support but I doubt Nibs was going to ride for him anyways.

Does @Juggernaut only watch the TDF?

I believe him when he says everyone is doing it.
And you'd be right to. They do. And when they get caught, they usually get fined, or in more extreme cases, time penalized.

He got kicked out for one reason: the unbelievable stupidity of doing it from the FRONT of the chase group in the last 30k of the first proper stage of a GC. On TV. He had to have known he was gonna be seen, putting the judges in an impossible situation. This wasn't a he did/he didn't argument between riders and DS's. There was no way to for them soften the impact of that image. Despite the likelihood of Nibbles and Bits flailing his way to the bottom, again, anything he did would have been colored by that moment. And any impact (again most likely none) he might have had on the race would have been tainted. Note that even with that MASSIVE assist, he still managed to lose 90 seconds.

AND REMEMBER, Froome was kicked out of the 2010 Giro D'Italia for the same thing. It's not like this hasn't happened before.

Also, Astana is the dirtiest team since Virenque's Festina. "Try to find me an honest person in the peloton" -Astana team manager Giuseppe Martinelli. He was in the passenger seat. Seriously, f**k that guy.

Plus, we get lots of photoshopped goodness like this:

Oh I hadn't watched the video. I thought he actually got off his bike and hitched a ride inside the car!

Has anyone else noticed how bad the Vuelta coverage is compared to the Tour? And why were Paul, Phil and Christian wasted on the USAPC which had no stars and we are stuck with Golgoski calling the star studded race? And one more thing, when they talk about the contenders for the Vuelta why do they never mention Tejay?

P&P should never be allowed to talk in public again. CVdV and Tim Johnson would be ok. Carlton Kirby, Magnus and Sean Kelly are the way to go over at Eurosport. But even there, yup, it's B-Team right now.
The reason they never mention TJ is, um, TJ. Why do you think Rhis picked up Porte?
