Almost everything in trials is based off using the pedals. Learning that little kick thing will open up a lot of doors for you. Despite how it may seem, learning in the rocks is much better for you than the urban stuff. In urban you can fake a lot of things and never get the correct technique down. Trails is 100% technique. Practice on obstacles that you can't ride on your mountain bike.

Here's a fun very old video I found. I live right down the street from this park...

Wednesday.
CX workout. The plan. Double session. Running circuit thing in the morning, CX practice in the afternoon.
Headed out to the park in the am. My left leg was sorta more sore than normal. Stretch, warm-up, hit circuit #1. Leg still felt a bit tight and sore. I just figured it was because I wasn't warmed-up yet so I hit circuit #2. Run the mile loop then hit the stairs and POW!! My calf exploded. Much pain. I try to walk it off but that didn't work. Any pressure on my leg was too much. So I sat there on the bleachers instead. Damn it!!
So I head into work and hobble around all day. As the day went on my leg got more and more swollen. Needless to say, I skipped CX practice.
Once I got home I hit the ice pack and Ibuprofen. By the time I hit the sack it came down almost back to normal. This morning it's still painful to the touch but I can walk pretty good. I'll take today off the bike and see where we are.
I raced the whole season in '08 with a similar calf injury in the same leg. Maybe that old injury never healed all the way?
Onto more positive things...Like food!!
This is my salad in bag, Quorn cutlets, olives, black pepper, balsamic dressing. It's not very much different than the veggie thing I normally eat for lunch. I'm sure my meals are all good and healthy. The crap in between might not be. EJP keeps a constant flow of temptation 4 feet away from me. Yesterday he brought in Combos, Swedish Fish, and Biscoff...He also pounded a huge can of Chef Boyardee Raviolis for lunch. Just off the top of my head he may have taken in 5,000 calories just during work. In comparison I feel like I don't eat anything. Yesterday I had Met-RX for breakfast, that salad for lunch, a greek yogurt for snack, 2 bean burritos for dinner and that's it. Less than 2,000 calories for sure. It's been about the same all week, even on monday after a 3-hour ride. I feel I'm on the right track...
Bike porn? Sorta. I got some new shoes.
Lenosky signatures. I got them because they're purple. Actually, if you look at his shoe colorways, they match all my bikes. I hear tale they'll increase my vertical hop by at least a foot.
😀
That is all...
