Froome eats low carbs during some training rides, etc...replaced pasta with white rice... But not doing keto. He just got away from bad carbsGood summary.
The comments pointed out a mistake I made earlier in this thread.
Apparently Chris Froom is winning TdF on keto.
That's a pretty solid endorsement and middle finger to the know it alls in this thread (who coincidentally none have actually tried the diet)

It appears that he's in ketosis. At his calorie burn rate and the length of time he's done it he can eat a lot more carbs and stay in ketosis. He's also taking in external ketones which helps.
What I was reading is that his energy drinks during the race is external ketones. Which really wouldn't do anything if he wasn't burning fat for fuel.
I thought cashews were a big no no. avocado/peanut butter is a combo I hadn't considered. You have a recipe for that pizza crust? I think I can figure out the rest.If you want to carry food fir a ride a good one is a cut avocado (pitted), stuffed with coconut flakes and Almond butter. Keep the skin on, close it up and keep it closed with a rubber band.

How would that work if you are taking ketones supplements... (which are banned now) wouldn't that defeat the purpose of putting your body into ketosis? It appears that he's in ketosis. and of course avocados are now like $2 a piece, thats bs
My mistake, they are still checking them out but they are not illegal yet... Froome and Sky deny using them thoughWhy would Ketone supplements be banned if you can take sugar supplements?

Sure... Although my policy on dieting... If I can't eat an apple on this diet... Its not a long term solution for me personally. But myself...I usually eat how froome does... Avoid carbs that don't have a good amount of fiber that goes with them. Save the gels for when I'm doing something very intense. Eggs and feta for breakfast, no bread, no pasta, salad bowl over burrito... But I look at the more as cutting out food that isn't really doing anything for me but adding calories. I have done races eating oatmeal and peanut butter for breakfast or eggs.. Doesn't have an effect on me that I have noticed. But I also have far more fat stores than your average TdF racer 🙂@UtahJoe i can link you to some cycling power data from a doctor that took an ester. Don't want to waste your time if you're not interested though.
It's all geeked out with VO2 and wattage talk and atp generation.
