Lewis Morris race route

Went today the way those trails are marked is pretty confusing. One minute your on yellow trail then it changes to green then red then yellow..

The 2013 race course is reverse from last year and runs the same way as 2011 (sorry Kirt I thought you raced last year) (Utah I sent you a map) (Norm was right by looking at the arrows) Bottom line--- counter clockwise so get ready to climb from the start. Norm can post up the map I think it explains the course well. Same course as last year in reverse with one section of storm damaged trail removed. Lewis is a just a big loop so course design is always a challenge and reverse just changes it up a bit.

We have a alcohol permit with kegs for after the race this should keep all happy.


Course will be all ready to go Fri noon before the race.
 
The worst course in the world can be fixed with beer. You guys are way ahead of the game!
 
Speaking of gearing for SS, what's the frequency kenneth?

I did 32x18 last year, should i do 32x17?

The fun yellow bomb run is taken out when you go CCW.

Sorry, I shouldn't say the route sucks as a promoter. I'm just talking about it from a fun & pain perspective. I think I've broken a chain on that 1 steep pitch before, so I don't like it. Plus, you know, it hurts. Not sure I'm doing this race this year as I've sworn off racing LM for the rest of my life. But I may be there as a spectator!

Vic - the map I have has scribble marks and I think a coffee cup ring on it. You may want a more official one.
 
This is the map that was used to get the permit. Black oval was letting the park know we won't use that section due to storm damage. For those who know Lewis the start will be on the bridge as usual and the finish will be behind the pavilion. Just trying to keep speed down in that area for spectators etc.

I did two loops today, there were two trees down on the yellow trail in the southern end of the park just before it starts to climb up toward the red trail. This is just to the NW of the black circled area in the map above.
 
I did what I think was the ccw race loop on sunday night with my son. besides the two down trees, one of which you really have to dismount and climb over, I am wondering if that log over at the top of the switchback climb is going to stay for the race. I can see big time bottlenecks if it stays.

it was pretty muddy on sunday.

it's lewis morris bard. no, there are no rocks. roots, OTOH, there are tons of.

personally i like the CCW direction more better. but i don't race so my opinion doesn't matter.
