Rollin on twenties
While the rest of the world is on or thinking about 29” even and inquiring about even a larger size wheel, I have returned to my roots (shallow be they may) and tried out a 20” again. The first time back to the trails on twenties was like a shock to my system. I felt every bump, stick, rock. Jumping, the rear end feels so short and not having a front brake took alittle bit of getting used to if I wanted to bail out. I had my son with me and I took alittle spill (didn’t eat shit, just kinda sat down) and he laughed at me and preceded to tell me I fell over and over and over. Glad to see I am raising him right. Rode alittle bit this morning and the bike feels better. The bike is just so easy to throw around and I think I am gonna stick with the little bike for jumping. I know eventually I am going to trash something on my EWR and riding a 20” the financial impact of trashing something is much, much less. So that is pretty much where I am at. Now maybe I will buy a 20” instead of just borrowing colins. Thanks by the way!
Bye-Bye Full Squish
That didn’t take long. Buy bike, fix up bike, sell bike. Only rode the thing 4 or 5 times. You can call me Manny for the day as I learned it from watching him. In any case, this has brought peace to my house as the # of bikes in the garage seems to be directly related to my wife’s tolerance level for putting up with me. 4 bikes, all good. Once a 5th bike (the 20”) entered the garage, my wife noticed immediately and then little thing like breaking the rear window in her convertible becomes this huge deal. Same thing last year when I added a 5th bike with the mary, two days after it is in the garage, she starts asking questions. I think it is because I have places for 4 bikes and a 5h bike ends up in front of my work bench of on the stand. Anyways, thank god the window breakage was not bike related as that would not have had a good outcome for my bikes. The selling of this bike is also my departure from 9 spd MTB stuff so if I want gears, I will be jumping to 10 spd.
Mooch?
Still on the fence about the mooch race. I will probably end up doing it but I need to get on the ball with longer road rides as I am not doing anything longer than 1.5 hours due to using my bigger chunks of time for jumping. I was going to ride the trance at this race, but that is gone now so 4 hours of technical riding on a 26” HT doesn’t seem that appealing. Is it that technical? I will probably do it….
