MTB Frame for build up project

I need a MTB frame for a build up project. This is a project to get one of the local kids out MTBing. I have spare pieces around that could build up a bike except that I do not have a frame. I cannot offer you any money expect karma points as this is a charity project for me as well.

If you have an OLD MTB (hardtail or Full suspension) that is just taking up space. I'll come and get it and put it to a good cause.

PM.. me if you do. I'll take anything except walmart/kmart frames.

Thanks for reading.

Cheers,

Joe

I can offer this.

It is a '91 Chromoly Steel Frame. 20" seat tube to the top of the clamp. Here is the catch...it has a 1" head tube. You can find 1" forks but they are rare and will be rigid. I found one on eBay years ago for another bike.

This is what it looked like back in the day.

You pick it up...you can have it.

I have a red Trek 8900 aluminum frame, no headset. I think it's medium I also have some other random parts around the basement, so if you need anything specific I can try to find it.

Ben, Thx for the offer but I have a 1 1/8 inch shock fork.

Norm, Thx for the offer, I sent you a PM. I think I have a headset, if not I'll get one.

See you on the trails, I'll be the one with 4 boys in tow (or chasing them).

This situation started out with me taking my son out. He told a friend and last year I had up to 4 boys and 2 Dads riding with me. One of the boys always had to borrow a bike... The family that he used to borrow it from moved in the fall so he was out of luck. I am a bit of a pack rat with bike parts so I was able to get almost everything I needed. A NEW to Me frame will complete the picture.

Thanks again.

Cheers,

Joe

I have a Magna frame in good shape with brakes and such on it that could come off.

Need MTB Frame for build project - Complete!

Hello all,

Thanks for the support.

The build project is done. Norm donated a much loved Trek 8900 HT frame as the basis for this project. I salvaged parts from my left over/used stock pile and on Sat and Sun was able to build up a complete bike. I needed to buy, new cables, a new chain and a seat post clamp. Including the touch up paint, I am right at my budget for this project. It was a great success!

There are at least 2 boys who will be using this loaner bike in the spring. One of the boys was over on Sunday and he was very excited to be able to ride this bike.

I am sorry about the crappy picture. I am a better mechanic than photographer.

Thanks again for the support and offers.

Cheers,

"slow" Joe
