Nassau Trails - partial closure

I've heard there are cinder blocks on the switchback trail so don't think it's all open. Though it seems things may have softened a bit since the original closure. I'm gonna get down there in a few weeks as it's been a while

Hey Everyone.

I volunteered to be the Jorba lead for Nassau. I’m pretty sure it’s a done deal now. I’m planning to meet with the mayor in the near future and this closure will probably come up. I’ll report back after that happens.

But in the conversations I had with the township, they did confirm these trails are still closed.

I also want to say that I know there are a lot of people behind the scenes doing lots of trail clean up here and I am not looking to infringe. I’m just another person helping to keep the trails clean and safe. And soon I’ll be doing it with Jorba supplied equipment. 😁

Liked @jShort for stepping up, sad face for continued closures

I think it’s half High Bridge and half Clinton Township. The Clinton Township side contains the trails in question. But I’m really not sure

High Bridge Borough and Clinton Township. None of it is county parkland and I've never seen a County Ranger in the area. Nassau Road and Wilson Ave are both in HBB and are directly adjacent to the trails. Clinton Township has no roads adjacent to the trails, although Herman Thau Road comes closest, but that would be a good walk into the park.

@jShort the concrete barriers at the base of the connector to Springside off Nassau Road is still HBB, so I think the land use issue is also in the Borough.

For the parcel info, Carson is correct, it is all noted as Green Acres which can have some funny rules and is likely what is written in for the closed section.

Moved discussion in conditions to here -

The map which was posted with the parcel/block/lot identifier of the restricted deed boundaries is official.
Brogans, and the outer loop are MTB friendly -

The sign in the kiosk is not official.

TF has been updated.

Please do not ride the connector, or other trails west of the Greenway trail/loop and north of Nassau Rd.

I may go in and sync-up the trail names in the future.

So I returned to Nassau today for the first time since the partial closures. I was surprised to see that there is no “No Bike” or “Hiking only” signage at the top of the closed trails. Only at the very bottom across from the lot where Flatlands/Chips/Nassau trail converge. There are older “Hiking Only” signs on other trails but these are almost entirely overgrown and not being used. This leads me to a concern that less-informed riders that enter the park from the Foran trail (as I did) would have no idea the closed trails are off limits and, should they ride them, could unknowingly cause grief with the land owner. For those closer to the situation, do we need to be concerned? For the record I rode Brogans out and back, turned around at the affected trail intersections.

Also @Patrick i don’t see brogans updated on TF? And “Greenway” looks to be thick with growth and not passable?
