Peezy's Black Magic 2013

The North doesn't have good BBQ, the South doesn't have good Pizza. It's just a fact and we all have to deal with it.

Does make the BBQ that much better since I only get it every now and then.

(Nobody start saying "oh, go try xxx BBQ place in yyy town". You don't know good BBQ)

There is actually a really good bagel place across the street from James' parent's house. I'm pretty sure it's owned by people from up North. They even have pork roll!

& bagels!

holy smokes they don't know how to make a bagel anywhere but here. i had a bagel in CO once. it was a hard roll.

also, even though i love meat, you can't get a plate of food down south (or the midwest) without meat on it. every once in a while you need a break from meat.

i travelled for a work a few years ago and was in the south/midwest a bit. we brought an indian guy with us for training for a week once in louisville, ky. he was a vegetarian through religious choice. they would bring out lunch everyday and he could never eat anything. he couldn't even eat the green beans because they had bacon all over them. i felt pretty bad for him. i think he lived on bread and minute maid lemonade for the week.

i however indulged in pulled pork, delicious bbq chicken, and bacon covered green beans all week. i felt bad, but not that bad.

Got have me some grits and biscuits with bacon gravy. Last time my heart actually stopped and said WTF!

It is the water that does make the difference, I don't think it's a sense of if the water itself is good or bad...

Its the yeast and handed down know how from generations of jewish bagel masters. And NJ bagels suck ass compared to NY bagels.

NY and LI have completely different water sources and types, yet they make the same pizza. Same for Jersey, completely different than NY, and probably completely different from the neighboring town most likely, but they will make the same pizza.
It's not in the water.

I was staying at a shitty motel on Long Island for work a few years back, with your generic shitty continental breakfast.

Except the bagels were absolutely fucking amazing. It's crazy how bagels can go from bad to good to very good and then all of a sudden eat bagels that blow you away. I meant to ask where they got them from, I saw them being delivered by a hispanic girl once, never found out the local bagel shop.

I used to get bagel sandwiches from that area of Long Island before work all the time from different places and they were all OK. Better than NJ bagels, but not as good as those. I don't think it was the water, I would go with crack.

The pizza guy here in Manville said it has to do with elevation and proximity to water that does something to the air. I don't know, all I do know is food in High Point NC was pretty bad. The only pizza available was either CiCi's which isn't pizza at all, or Papa Douche which is even worse. They have a "diner" but a strict no substitutions rule, doesn't that defeat the purpose of the diner? So glad my inlaws came back to civilization. Good food down south is found in Athens GA, the clockd diner is a little hole in the wall of heaven.
