Peezy's Black Magic 2013

...better yet instead of soda...pop. Who uses that dated term?

Everyone of my relatives in Indiana. Also, suckers instead of lollipops, vehicle instead of car, and they "put things up" instead of put things away.

Holy crap, this is getting out of hand, which I like.

I got an email that someone took a Six Mile strava segment from me; All the motivation I needed to ride today. I was thinking I would just ride tomorrow, but with the weather we have, 1 in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Mandi called me before I left and she decided to wait at the canal lot for a ride home from her road ride instead of riding home. Something about it being too hot. Summer isn't even here yet girl!

But yeah, it was extra muggy out today, but somehow we had no bugs on the canal path. Maybe too muggy for them too? Also the closed path section is just about done, it looks like they just need to move the crap out of the canal path. Damn Sandy ruining the smoothness of the path. It is much better, but I remember when you used to ride your road bike on this and it was smooth as glass. Dem good old dayz.

So I rip Blue and all I can think was how I ripped Smokin Tony's blue trail time. First time I felt really good about how I rode that section. Make the turn onto red. Interested to see what this debris blockage on Red looked like. It did sneak up on me, but 24 hours of people riding this trail have made a nice go around show up. I read that someone has already moved some of the stuff, but kind of counter-productive.

Canal ride home was nice, and I displayed some awesome roadie/street navigation skills. So good that someone called Mandi and was impressed (her cousin)

I regrained my segment on the canal loop, but holy crap. TonyP has left his mark on Six Mile, and will forever be a legend at this place. Not sure how much faster I could do that blue trail in. The trails have changed somewhat, but still. Crazy scary.

EDIT: After we showered I went to get dressed and threw some shorts on. I haven't had the need to wear shorts since the end of summer, but none of them fit me. Times like these, you realize you have lost weight. Mandi said it looked like I was wearing my Dad's shorts.

We got subs and froyo, Lukes favorite

I sent him a photo but he didn't reply. Maybe he was just jelly?

Molly in the window. Sometimes she thinks she can jump out the screen. Or eat the bugs on the other side of it. Free entertainment.

Do you get a little anxious when you open up Strava and see that you have an orange "1" notification at the top, but then you remember that someone gave you kudos?

Fruity Yogurt in Hillsborough? place is good. theres another rip off place thats right down 202, closer to amwell rd, which IMO is better.

That KOM blue to middlebush time is ridiculous...i cant see that being beaten any time soon...

It's hard to hit that segment hard when you start from the canal. You need to be all warmed up and ready to fly.

I've pretty much given up on strava segments on the mtb. It's too easy to game the system.

i always start my morning ride right there too. i have zero chance of KOM'ing anything, and on the mtb, that chance goes negative. i shoot for top tens. if i hit that i'm super psyched.

how do people game the system? is it taking advantage of short cuts that strava can't catch?

Strava only cares about 3 things:
1) did you pass the start
2) did you pass the finish
3) does your track match within 70% of the segment

That last part is how you "game" the system especially so on a mtb. As long as you have a 70% match you get credit for the segment. That is also why you can flag rides.

Strava checks for the start and end and may or may not match anything in between. I think not much in between just based on processing times.

interesting. i always wondered why it included me in trail segments that i didnt ride exactly...they really gotta fix that...

i figured it cant be that accurate - but that's pretty inaccurate. our last ride at mercer dropped one of our riders from the group in a real tight section. strava must have freaked. eh - its all in fun anyway.

On the road it is generally not an issue unless the segment is really long. On the trail Strava is not ideal. That said, I don't think Strava was really designed for segments like those found at most of the mtb parks here.
